Challenge #275 - Recipe for Subtle Beauty
Our Design Team member, Jan has come up with an interesting recipe for this challenge. I've titled it Recipe for Subtle Beauty. It must include subtle colours and something that starts with a B, along with the other elements in the recipe, seen in the challenge banner below.
I want to clarify a few questions you might have. Your "B" item is not restricted to bears, boats and balloons. Anything that starts with B is okay (within propriety of course, ahem!) The subtle colours are based on the Stampin' Up! Subtles but any pastels are okay.
You have to include all the elements in the recipe on your creation, but how you do that is up to you! Have fun and start your ovens, er...stamp sets!
We are so pleased to welcome our sixth guest designer, Shirley Gentry, (who was our Featured Artist on Challenge #273) for this challenge.

Winners for Challenge #274 - The Meaning of Mama
Mothers have a special place in our hearts. It goes without saying, and it's nice to pay tribute to them at any time of year. Thanks to all who took part in our Fill in the Blank Challenge for their lovely projects!
Without further ado, I want to introduce you to our winners! Here they are:
Our Top Pick is: Claire
Claire did a fabulous job of colouring those luminous roses embossed in gold on her card! Don't they just light up the day? But what really made the Design Team take a second look was the faux frame she created by drawing a line around the flower area and pulling the grey colour into the center making the center look as though it is lower than the outside! Fabulous design! We also liked the way Claire filled in the blank for our challenge: The best thing about mothers is inner strength!
Our Featured Artist is: Stef Perry
Stef's stunning card with it's eye-catching red rose is meant to honour what would have been her mother's 100th birthday. As her mom loved Mr. Lincoln roses, this beautiful image has been masterfully coloured in red with deep green leaves looking like you could almost smell their perfume! The Design Team loved the image as well as the subtly stenciled background and the bold gold 100th birthday numbers! This is a beautiful tribute to Stef's mom's unconditional love!
There were no Honorable Mentions this week due to too few entries.

Challenge #274 - The Meaning of Mama
It's my turn this week to come up with a Fill in the Blank Challenge, and seeing as how it's Mother's Day in North American this weekend, I wanted to know what you think makes Moms so special. How would you fill in the blank: "The Best Thing about Mothers is: ______________."?
For a Fill in the Blank Challenge, you complete the sentence by filling in the blank, then you make your project based on the words you used to fill in the blank. How would you fill in this blank? Now, take on the challenge of making something amazing with it!

Winners of Challenge #273 - They Call It The Blues
We're keen to announce the winners of Challenge #273 because the Featured Artist will be our Guest Designer for the next Recipe Challenge in two weeks! We're very excited to work with the winner! We were definitely not singing the blues about the entries we received for our monochromatic palette for this challenge. They were "blue"tiful!
After deliberations we were "azure" about our winners and here they are:
Our Top Pick is: Lisa K.
Lisa's beautiful floral image is stunning, stamped in Versamark and Navy ink and clear embossed, then masterfully coloured in using the challenge blues with just the right touch, giving an airy lightness to the bouquet and a luminous quality as well! Lisa, you made the blues glow!
Our Featured Artist is: Shirley Gentry
Shirley created her own background paper that she calls SSP (Shirley's Special Paper) using the challenge colours and white. It has just the right feel for this jaunty, adventurous little card. The Design Team loved the look of the 3D sails and how the little sailboat seems to come alive, sailing right off the card front in nautical navy!
Congratulations, Shirley, you will be our next Guest Designer for our Recipe Challenge in 2 weeks time. We will be in touch!
