Challenge #233 - Hues in Twos

This week's challenge is a fill in the blank challenge. You complete the sentence by filling in the blank, then you make your project based on the words you used to fill in the blank. Do you have Go-To colour combinations? The duos that you know look great together and always make you smile? And always make your cards look amazing? That is this week's challenge, what is your favourite colour duo? How would you fill in the blank? Have fun with it!

What do you think the design team members will choose as their favourite colour duo?

Amy Jasper
Amy's favourite colours are Granny Apple Green & Coastal Cabana.

Heather's favourite duo in the winter is Coastal Cabana and Pool Party.

Jan picked Real Red and Gold as her favourite colour duo.

Jane's colour duo of choice is lime and blue!

Joanne James
Joanne used her favourite duo of Balmy Blue and Highland Heather!

LeAnne Pugliese
Leanne's favourite duo has a coastal feel - Soft Sky and Kraft

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Fill in the blanks with the words that are right for you and then create your project with those words in mind. Tell us, in your blog or on your site, what words you used.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI233 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines tab.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

Winners for Challenge #232 - Sunflower Skies

Great job on the colour challenge, everyone! I feel like we single-handedly increased the sunflower bloom across the world because of our challenge! And way to go those of you who bucked the trend and created something completely different! Once again you made our jobs so tough to do, as we had to choose our winners, but here they are:

Our Top Pick is: Joanna from Jojo's Spot

Joanna created a wonderfully unique card using our challenge colours, and nary a sunflower in sight! The Design Team loved her layered lettering, especially using the patterned paper with the challenge colours and the creative way she used the Cajun Craze beads to get that colour into the mix! Such a different, yet eye-pleasing design, you get excited just because you're looking at something totally different!

And this week we have a tie for Featured Artist.

Our first Featured Artist is: Amy Tsuruta

Amy combined several different stamp sets to fill this adorable slimline card, but they all worked together so well, you would swear the images were all from the same set! Here background is perfect and she used a lot of skill colouring in the images. The Design Team loved the depth in her design and the boldness of her sentiment. Well done!

Our second Featured Artist is: Theresa P.

Theresa's antique-looking sunflowers and vase caught the Design Team's attention right off the top. We loved the skilled colouring job that Theresa did with the flowers and leaves. And that one Bermuda Bay stripe on the vase pulls your eye toward the meaningful  sentiment! What a great way of using those challenge colours! Great job!

And we think you may want to check out the following Honorable Mentions on their site:

1. Jaydee
3.    Karen Ksenzakovic
15.  Stamps-n-Lingers

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! Come and check out our new Fill In the Blank Challenge tomorrow morning on our blog! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Challenge #232 - Sunflower Skies

It's time for another Colour Challenge and this is one of my own design! It's a truly August in the Northern Hemisphere type colour challenge with the fall leaf and floral colours, the intense blue of an August sky and some white to balance it all out!! So we've called it Sunflower Skies! (Remember you can use the colours you have that most closely match the ones we've given you here on the banner.  Don't count yourself out because you don't have the exact ones!)
And please branch out from sunflowers! We'd love to see a variety of images!

The Design Team were thinking a lot alike this week, as you'll see:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Stampin' Up! colours are used for reference but any matching colours are welcome. You can use black/neutral for outlines and sentiments but don’t use any other colours.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI232 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines tab.

Winners for Challenge #231 - Both Sides of the Story

We loved what you did with our sketch last week and we know it was a challenging one, so great job if you took it on and submitted an entry! Glad to hear your "side of the story"! We love variety of interpretations! The entries were all super as usual, but here are our winners:

Our Top Pick is: Cindi Copeland

Cindi's card shows how well suited this sketch is for a masculine design. She's used clean lines and angles, strong colours and a simple sentiment to make a very pleasing masculine birthday card. We loved the contrast between the argyle and plaid designer papers and the knotted twine added a great masculine embellishment!

Our Featured Artist is: Jaydee

Jaydee combined two very different but beautiful stamp sets to create this imaginative take on our sketch. We love that the adorable and brightly coloured birds were the divider over the script layer and that the stylized sun perfectly compliments the background paper and the background wash! So cool! If you pop over to her blog, you'll see what else she's done with her envelope! Thanks for sharing the sunshine, Jaydee!

And we think you may want to check out the following Honorable Mentions on their site:

7.    dj
