Challenge #282 - Baby Business

It's hard to resist a baby, so I don't think we can lose on this theme! Those giggles, those cheeks, all that adorableness! This week you will make your projects based on a baby theme! And that's all you need to know! Go for it, and make it precious!

challenge #282

On a sadder note, this will be the last project for our Design Team Member, LeAnne Pugliese, as she is stepping down from the team at the end of August. We will really miss her delightful creations and faithful service to the team, and her friendship as well.  We wish you all the best, LeAnne!

Winners for Challenge #281 - A Recipe for Watercolour Brightness

Thanks to all the test cooks who tried out our Recipe Challenge last week! You combined watercolouring and the beauty of bright colours, patterned paper and floral stamps and it made for some gorgeous creations! We had everything form butterflies to giraffes and gobs of beautiful flowers in between! Where you have the challenge of creating, we have the challenge of choosing from among such talent! Here are the winners of our Recipe Challenge:

Our Top Pick is: Theresa P.

top pick

Theresa's card features a beautifully watercoloured floral image which just pops against a lovely embossed and distressed background of green. The two colours work so well together! The sentiment creates a focal point as the bright pink on white, and the pink backing catch your eye against the green and echo the colour of the beautiful rose!  Such a tasty variation on our recipe!

And our Featured Artist this week:

Our first Featured Artist is: Ashwini Rao

featured artist

Ashwini used a creative technique with floral stamps and water to make her own patterned paper from which to die cut several postage stamp shapes to make her fantastic layout. She repeated the technique for her butterfly focal point! The Design Team just loved the bright colours and watercolour effects of this beautiful creation. Well done on the unique use of all the elements of the recipe in your own way, Ashwini!

Challenge #281 - A Recipe for Watercolour Brightness

As a member of the Design Team, this time it was my turn to come up with an interesting recipe for this challenge. I've titled it A Recipe for Watercolour Brightness. It must include bright colours and some watercolouring, along with the other elements in the recipe, seen in the challenge banner below.

I want to clarify a few questions you might have. Your watercolouring is not restricted to the stamped images. You can create backgrounds with it or use it to create coloured cardstock with which to die cut shapes. The bright colours are based on the Stampin' Up! Brights but any bright colours are okay.

You have to include all the elements in the recipe on your creation, but how you do that is up to you! Have fun and start your ovens, er...stamp sets!

challenge #281

We are so pleased to welcome our seventh guest designer, Mary Deatherage, (who was our Featured Artist on Challenge #279) for this challenge.

Winners for Challenge #280 - Christmas in July

Crafters are known for their early start on Christmas projects! And why not? Christmas projects are so much fun to do and give you so much scope for your imagination and mojo! We loved that you all put your jingle bells on in July (and August) and got into a festive mood for us!

Without further ado, I want to introduce you to our winners! Here they are:

Our Top Pick is: Jolanda Johnstone

top pick

Jolanda featured some beloved past colours and some glittery snowflakes to get into that holiday spirit! Blues and silvers make a great Christmas palette and Jolanda found some creative ways to use it: dry emboss it with dies, heat emboss on blue with silver embossing powder, brayer blue ink onto a piece of white DSP with a silver foil accent that resists the ink, use a specialty silver foil, and, last but not least, die cut on glimmer paper! The result is stunning!

Our Featured Artist is: Cindy Major

featured artist

Cindy's stunning corner easel card is almost more of a diorama, as there is so much to feast your eyes on. And when I say feast, I mean look at all the festive colour and joy! The red accents are heightened by that delicious, antique-looking pale mint colour and the background papers and images really continue that theme! The Design Team love the tag idea for addressing it to friends and family when you're ready to send it out! That's the way to start the holiday crafting season with a project full of inspiration, Cindy! Thank you!
