Challenge #315 - Vibrant Hues in Nature

Nature has a penchant for vibrant colours. They are all around us and they are used with perfect balance! While using vibrant colours in our stamping projects can be problematic, if we copy nature and use them with balance we will find the key! Thanks to Team member, Heather H. for this beautiful challenge.

Each time we have a colour challenge, the Featured Artist will have a chance to become a Guest Designer for our next Recipe Challenge 4 weeks from now. So enter with that in mind! We're so excited to work with you for one challenge!!

Remember, if you don't have the Stampin' Up! colours, use the colours you have that are the closest. Your project should use all these colours only and 1 neutral of your choice.

How did the Design Team use these colours this week?

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging project that fits the challenge.
  • Stampin' Up! colours are used for reference but any matching colours are welcome. You can use black/neutral for outlines and sentiments but don’t use any other colours. Make sure you use all the colours in the challenge banner. Neutrals include black, white, vanilla, Crumb Cake.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI 315 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines tab.
  • You can combine our challenge with up to 3 other compatible challenges.*
  • We do reserve the right to delete, or not consider, entries that do not comply with these guidelines.*

Winners for Challenge #314 - Heart Arc

Our sketch challenges aim to give you a framework to enhance your creativity! We love seeing what you do with each element of the sketch and how creatively you fill the requirements of the challenge! This week, we had some lovely designs, with lots of shapes filling in for the hearts in the sketch! From honey pots to lanterns to pretzels, they were all inspired!

Let me introduce you to our winners! Here they are:

Our Top Pick is: Amanda Mertz

top pick

Who would have thought, but those juicy little watermelon slices make a perfect shape for the challenge arc! The slices themselves look icy cold and refreshing, while the backgrounds are great colours to show off the main focal point. Check out the actual texture and implied texture in the background and the lovely font and colour of the sentiment! Even the red and white baker's twine bow speaks to the theme! Congratulations, Amanda!

Our Featured Artist is: Jolanda Johnstone

Oh, the woolen texture Jolanda has created as a background for the cozy mittens she has chosen as the shape for her arc in the sketch! And the white panel in the middle helps to continue that knitted panel. The mittens are coloured so precisely, and the colour choice helps to promote that crisp, clear look of Jolanda's project! The white embossed on brown for the sentiment is the perfect look to continue the professional appeal of Jolanda's Featured Artist-worthy card! Congratulations!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! Come and check out our new Colour Challenge tomorrow morning here on our blog with a chance at winning the right to be our new Guest Designer for our Recipe Challenge in two weeks time! Our winners today can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Challenge #314 - Heart Arc

Welcome back from our winter break. During that time, we have created a year's worth of amazing new challenges for you and we are eager to get started again. Our first challenge is a sketch challenge!!

The sketch for Challenge #314, designed by myself, includes four hearts arranged in an arc pattern and using a portrait orientation. Hence the title Heart Arc! BUT, if you don't want to do hearts, feel free to use any image or shape in place of the hearts, but keep it consistent!

challenge #314

Feel free to rotate or flip the sketch, just keep the integrity of it, so we can recognize it.

And what did the Design Team do with their arcs? Check out their projects:
