Starry, Starry Night Challenge #142

Are you up for another sketch by the amazing Amanda? This one I want to name Starry Starry Night for obvious reasons, with apologies to Vincent Van Gogh, who we're not quite ready to challenge yet! In our part of the world, winter often brings overcast skies and we don't see many stars or the sun, so hopefully, this challenge will coax the clear skies to visit us again. A little sunshine and starshine can make all the difference!

Take a look at what our Design Team have come up with for this challenge:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch and to substitute one     shape for another but we must still be able to see the sketch       in your finished submission.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we     can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not     the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI141 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines tab.
  • The Challenge opens at 6:00 am Pacific time Friday, Jan. 27th. You will have 2 weeks to play with it and the linky will close on Wednesday, Feb. 8th, at 11:55 pm Pacific time.

Winners for Challenge #141

It's so exciting to be back! And it was great to comment on so many familiar blogs and sites again. Thanks for playing with us during the past two weeks. It was lovely to see what you did with Amanda's sketch. From clean to shabby chic, dragonflies to teacups, they were all fantastic and you did such an amazing job with your projects.

But alas, we may only pick 2 winners and so here they are:

Our Top Pick is  LeAnne Pugliese:

The Design Team love the masculine vibe of LeAnne's card with the great textures (especially the background paper), the colours, right down to that awesome sentiment: hb Celebrate!

And our Featured Artist is Jen Mitchell:

The balance and elegance of this card gave the Design Team goose bumps! We loved the pop of colour of the butterfly against the peaceful neutral background. It made the butterfly look so wild and free! Such a beautifully designed card!

Congratulations to our two winners, and thanks to all of you who entered your treasures! I hope you'll check out our new challenge tomorrow and please share it with your crafty friends! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and sport them proudly on their blogs or sites.

Lucky Friday the Thirteenth

I'm not sure how auspicious an start this will be, considering we are starting on a Friday the thirteenth, but I know it's always been a lucky day for me, so I'm going with that!

We've worked hard to get here and we are SO EXCITED to be back, bringing you some of Amanda's Amazing Challenges for your inspiration. This first sketch is seasonal if you live in the northern hemisphere, but since our community of stampers is growing more international by the day, feel free to turn that snowflake into something more seasonal for the southern hemisphere. One of our designers, Jan, is sweltering through summer right now herself!

Have fun with it! We can hardly wait to see who is back! And tell your friends we're back so that we can get the word out again!

Good To Be Back Almost

Well, it has been an adventure! When we first learned that As You See It Challenges had been hacked last summer, we thought, "Oh, dear! Well it happens! We'll just get that fixed and be up and running again shortly!" We were clearly viewing the situation through our 'Rose Red' coloured glasses!!

The hack was drastic and complete and affected all our data as well as the data of several websites we were aligned with. The web designers worked long and hard to get us up and running, but just when they thought that they had fixed everything, a new piece of corrupted data would rear it's ugly head and we'd be back at square one.

We decided we would start over with back up data from the host site, but even that was corrupted! We thanked our designers for all their hard work and decided to really simplify and start again from absolute scratch - a new platform, no past data, only a bit of artwork that was salvaged and a newly designed blogsite. It's been a marathon!

But what has been so gratifying to us through this long hard process, was that fact that we still have several of you checking up on us on our Facebook page and we can't thank you enough! I don't know if we would have had the heart to keep going without you!

We are planning our first challenge for Friday, January. 13 and every two weeks thereafter! I hope you'll be there to welcome us back! It's been a long time coming!
