Challenge #297 - Party Tweet

The little bird in our challenge banner is so decked out in colourful plumage, that he looks as though he's going to an amazing party! In fact, it's a real tweet - er, treat - just to look at him! I think it's also going to be a real treat just to play with these colours as well, thanks to Design Team member, Jane! I'd say, "Go wild! Have fun with them! Be the life of the party!" 

Each time we have a colour challenge, the Featured Artist will have a chance to become a Guest Designer for our next Recipe Challenge 4 weeks from now. So enter with that in mind! We're so excited to work with you for a challenge!!

Remember, if you don't have the Stampin' Up! colours, use the colours you have that are the closest. Your project should use all these colours only and 1 neutral. (Neutrals include black, white, vanilla or Crumb Cake.)

Winners for Challenge #296 -Balance

Our sketch challenges aim to give you a framework to enhance your creativity! We enjoyed seeing how you created balance with our sketch and what you used for your focal image. We had the inevitable floral images, but also animals, pocket watches, shells and a steampunk peek-a-boo! So much fun!

Our Top Pick is: Pamela's Blog

We loved what Pamela did with the center medallion and the layered pieces of coloured cardstock. I can't imagine the painstaking effort required for those tiny white lines in the mountains! In addition, the subtle texture of the background, and the matching panels of designer paper make this project a real winner!

Our Featured Artist is: Jolanda Johnstone

How do we like our Father's Day cards? Crisp! That one word sums up the precision that defines the design that Jolanda has created for a Father's Day card! The colours that she has used together are high contrast giving us a crispness by default, the layered vellum map is precise by nature, and the way the VW Van has been popped up over the sentiment (in crisp, dark lettering) in the center focal point looks so clean and clear that it is naturally appealing! This masculine design is a compelling win for Featured Artist! Congratulations, Jolanda!

Challenge #296 - Balance

I'm excited for this next sketch challenge! It is such an awesome layout, yet it has so much room for individual design ideas! It is the creation of Design Team member Jan, and it has so much balance that I know you can guess why I titled the challenge what I did.

Feel free to rotate or flip the sketch, just keep the integrity of it, so we can recognize it.

Winners for Challenge #295 - Accelerated Al Fresco

We seem to have more brave hearts taking on our speed challenges! I know crafters have a hard time breaking themselves from the tyranny of perfectionism! It can be very freeing to let go of the requirement of being perfect for a challenge like this and just do enough to finish the job adequately in 10 min! Using your scrap pile is NOT cheating! Colouring only part of an image is a great technique to use for a speed challenge and for other times as well! Punches vs dies are great for speed challenges! It's a good thing to try! Okay, next time, right?

Our Top Pick is: Jennie Maier

Jennie used some beautiful designer paper to form her background for this speed stamping challenge - which is a great technique for a challenge of this kind! The crisp look of the green palette really sets it apart and the small touch of purple just adds a beautiful accent. She added a stamped accent and sentiment, also in the green and another patterned paper accent to finish it off! Look what a beautiful project you can create in under 10 minutes!!

Our Featured Artist is: Erin T. 

Erin used an amazing combination of stamped background and die cut foreground to create this homage to the outdoors in just over 9 minutes! That stamped background is a big WOW in shades of lemon and lime, while the foreground in darker shades really "balances" the whole design! Congratulations on an excellent accelerated al fresco win, Erin!
