Winners for Challenge #259 - Speed Humour

I hope you get a chance to go through all the entries in our last As You See It Challenge! It was so much fun because not only was it a speed stamping challenge, but it had a humour theme as well! I got a lot of chuckles looking at the entries and reading through the blog posts for them all! Thanks to all who braved the adrenaline rush of entering in a speed stamping challenge! It was the usual difficult job of picking winners but without further comment, here they are:

Our Top Pick is: Heather Heroldt

top pick

From all accounts, Eleanor Roosevelt was a witty woman, and we've always loved this quote of hers! Heather ingeniously came up with her own design of a teabag using vellum for her card, and must have had it all figured out in her head before she started, because she finished her card in 8 min and 33 sec! This is a great example of creativity under pressure!

Our Featured Artist is: Jules

featured artist

Jules obviously has a great sense of humour and the Design Team loved her army of Grey Hares, looking like they all have some greater purpose in life! (Probably to bring us grief and a sense of passing time, right?)  We loved the little touches that she included such as the stitching around her image panel - very brave for a speed stamping challenge and the little pop of blue in the otherwise monotone grey palette. Jules completed her project in 9 min and 13 sec, well under the 10 minute deadline! Well done and so funny, Jules!

Challenge #259 - Speed Humour

I love listening to comedians like Robin Williams who could spout hilarity off the top of his head so fast it would leave you dizzy trying to keep up with it. If you stopped concentrating for 1 second you missed a great joke! I'm not like that. My brain runs at a much slower speed and I have to work at being funny, but this week Design Team member Amy has come up with a Speed Stamping Challenge for you, and the theme is Humour, so you'll need to loosen up your funny bone and get your laugh track in gear! You will need to create a funny card in under 10 minutes!!

When we do a speed challenge we are not expecting a detailed masterpiece from you. We want you to have fun and see what you can create in under 10 minutes! You can design it in your head or sketch it out first. You can gather all your supplies ahead of time. But once you start the cutting/stamping/die cutting/embossing /etc. process, you must start the timer!

challenge 259

You have 10 minutes!
Let us know, with your entry, how long it took you to complete your card or project! The key is to KISS!! Keep It Simple, Stamper!

Let's see how funny our Design Team members were in 10 min.:

Winners for Challenge #258 - In the Air

Lots of variety in this week's challenge! There are so many things you can find In The Air! We had fun soaring through all your entries and choosing the winners! So without further comment, here they are:

aysi top pick badge

Our Top Pick is: Annette Elias

top pick

Annette has created a card with a soft, pretty colour palette on white cardstock, delicate imagery and great attention to detail. We loved the way the artfully coloured flowered sprig was mounted over the script. The beautifully detailed bird was positioned perfectly to create a clean and simple overall design.

Our Featured Artist is: Milla

Milla was thinking coloured leaves falling in the autumn breezes when she completed this project for our In the Air Challenge and what beautiful autumn leaves she has created here. The Design Team loved the partially sponged frame and the rich fall colours Milla has included here. They loved the beautiful colouring job she did on her various fall leaves and her adorable embossed sentiment and little twine bow. The overall clean and simple looked nailed this design as the Featured Artist project for this challenge. Congratulations, Milla.

Winners for Challenge #257 - Recipe for a Fall Farm

This week's gallery looked like a page from Country Living Magazine! It was so warm and harvest ready! You all created some beautiful cards with the challenge elements and the Design Team were all impressed by different artists so it was challenging to just pick a few. We did manage to zero in on some winners, though so here they are:

Our Top Pick is: Jolanda Johnstone

top pick

Jolanda's lovely combination of warm tones and neutrals gives a cozy feel and great contrast! She has made great use of texture and a variety of die cuts to satisfy all the elements of the recipe challenge! This design just makes you want to pull up a chair in the farmhouse kitchen for a coffee and a chat! Great choice of colour, texture and paper, Jolanda!

Our Featured Artist is: Maria Helena

featured artist

Maria Helena has so many fabulous elements to her card including the diagonal gingham print paper, the super texture in the background, and the amazing grass and leaf stamps she has used in her sheaf of grasses here. The Design Team thought the colours she used were perfect for this challenge and the font of the sentiment was the perfect touch! Beautiful work!
