Challenge #242 - Hearts & Flowers

It's that time of year when we need some romance to brighten up our lives, right? The doldrums have hit and the pandemic is just going on too, too long! We miss everyone and the prospects for vaccines seem a little too far in the future for our liking! So bring on the hearts and flowers and go all out! Or change the shapes and do something completely different, keeping the concept of Design Team Member, Heather's sketch intact! Above all, have fun with it! We can't wait to see what you'll do!

Feel free to rotate or flip the sketch, just keep the integrity of it, so we can recognize it.

Will the Design Team stay true to the sketch or will they go rogue? Let's see:

Winners for Challenge #241 Speedy Scraps & a New Look

We had a lot of feisty, scrappy entries this time - duking it out for the fastest times and the most gorgeous creations! I feel like this was unlike most of our Speed Stamping Challenges, since having the pick of our scrap bins lead to some pretty sophisticated cards! But, oh, was it ever fun and satisfying to be able to use those pieces and, in such a short time, create masterpieces! There were many vying for the top spots, but a couple of clear winners emerged:

Our Top Pick is: Shawna - The Grand Stampede

top pick winner 241

Shawna's wood-themed card is really clever. The Design Team liked the way she matched the die cut sentiment from her scrap bin with the wood designer paper in the background and matched it with the stenciled design in neutral tones. To add interest, she sliced off a narrow strip and added it just below with a narrow border and set the stenciled paper on an angle! Shawna's project reflects creativity and craftsmanship at it's best!

Our Featured Artist is: Malina G.

featured artist winner 241

Malina's card is one of those sophisticated cards that puts this Speed Challenge over the top! Her beautifully coloured flower and stencilled background were done within the time limit! The sentiment is from her scrap bin! This clean and simple card would be amazing under non-timed circumstances, but is miraculous in under ten minutes! Just beautiful in layout, execution and design, Malina! Wow!

Challenge #241 - Speedy Scraps & a New Look

Welcome to 2021 and a brand new look for our blog! Big thanks are due to Design Team member Amy Jasper for the update of all of our graphics! Leave her a little love for all her hard work!!

Not only do we have a different look, we are planning an exciting new feature for 2021 and that is the addition of a guest designer once in every cycle of challenges. Every time we have a Colour Challenge, the Featured Artist winner will be asked to join us for the next Recipe Challenge as our Guest Designer!

Now our first Challenge of the new year is a Speed Challenge, and our Design Team Member, Joanne, has a great idea. It's a chance to clean out that scrap bin a bit and use up some of those bits that have been lying around forever! But you have to arrange them and add anything extra you want to add, all within 10 minutes! That should get the adrenaline pumping!

When we do a speed challenge we are not expecting a detailed masterpiece from you. We want you to have fun and see what you can create in under 10 minutes! You can design it in your head or sketch it out first. You can gather all your supplies ahead of time. But once you start the cutting/stamping/die cutting/embossing /etc. process, you must start the timer!

You have 10 minutes!
Let us know, with your entry, how long it took you to complete your card or project! The key is to KISS!! Keep It Simple, Stamper!
