Big Exciting News and In Praise of Roundabouts

Well, today, before I show you our new challenge, I have some Big News to share with you! With a need to enlarge our Design Team, we put out some feelers and came back with some very exciting responses. Starting today, we are very happy to announce the addition of two new Design Team Members, who, I know, will need very little introduction to the papercrafting world:

Our first new member is LeAnne Pugliese, from The Paper Players and Stamps, Ink, Paper Design Teams. She has a great blog, weeinklings, (don't you love that name?) and is amazingly adept at a number of styles and techniques and a true artist! I'll let her introduce herself in her quick bio:

Our second new member is Teresa Kline, and you'll recognize Teresa from her time as a Design Team member on Mojo Monday, which just completed it's last challenge, but she is also on the Design Teams of Verve Stamps, Simon Says Monday Challenge, and Sunday Stamps! Teresa's awesome blog is paperie blooms, and her style encompasses all the latest techniques and trends, within a lovely artistic framework! We are so happy to introduce her:

Please welcome them to our As You See It Challenges team!

Now, to today's challenge:

Roundabouts, or traffic circles, are supposed to be traffic calming, but for some, I think they create panic, while others just find them to be an occasion for fun! I hope Amanda's new sketch doesn't create panic in you! I'm sure you'll find it to be an occasion for fun, just like our new and enhanced Design Team did:

The Design Team's creations will definitely give you some more inspiration:

Winners for Challenge #151

Banners have a universal appeal and apparently you thought so, too, as we had lots of entries to enjoy these past two weeks! This sketch challenge also gave you a lot of choices as well, and it's always mind blowing to see the variety and creativity. We had to arm wrestle to finally pick the two winners, it was that close! But they are:

Our Top Pick is: Cindy Major

Ahoy Matey_Ahoy There Carta Bella_Mon tresor_Cindy Major

X marks the sweet spot for this adorable creation of Cindy's with her pirates and their chest! The Design Team loved the colour choices, the colouring and all the amazing details that went into this "treasure" of a card!

And our Featured Artist is: LeAnne Pugliese

With Father's Day coming up, what could be more appropriate than a vintage road trip down Route 66! This sepia-toned trip down memory lane caught the collective eye of the Design Team immediately and was a perfect take on the sketch. We loved LeAnne's old motorcycle and the aged map paper in the background. Even with the vintage details, it still maintained a clean and focused look! Awesome job, LeAnne!

Congratulations to our two winners, and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back tomorrow and check out our new challenge tomorrow! We will have some big news tomorrow as well! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

A Banner Day!

What is it about this new sketch from Amanda that is so pleasing to the eye? It's nicely balanced, for one. I'm a cat lover, so the image grabs my attention, even though you can choose any shape or design for that spot. Maybe it's just because a banner has universal appeal! A couple of our Design Team were obviously on the same wavelength with this one! Creative minds often think alike! Here's our challenge sketch:

Winners for Challenge #150

Love was in the air around here for two weeks and we got quite the surprising array of anniversary cards! Definitely not all hearts and flowers! But your hearts were in the right places for sure and it was hard to choose our Top Pick and Featured Artist again!
Our choices for the two winners are:

Our Top Pick is: Heather Heroldt

Picture

Heather really was thinking outside the box for this anniversary theme and her tumbling triangles in their ombre hues of Fresh Fig and Lemon Lime Twist created a real air of celebration for a one of a kind card!

And our Featured Artist is: Sara Mattson-Blume

Sara chose a more traditional route, and used an elegant combination of Fresh Fig and White to create a formal Anniversary greeting. The design team loved the graceful font of the greeting which made a beautiful focal point for this heartfelt wish for someone special. Lovely card, Sara!

Congratulations to our two winners, and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back tomorrow and check out our new challenge tomorrow! Think colour! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Love and Marriage

"Mawwiage! Mawwiage is what has bwought us togethah today!" Is anyone a Princess Bride fan? Well, even if you're not, we have a theme challenge this week and it is a timely one: Anniversaries! It's that time of year, at least in the Northern Hemisphere! In what month did you get married or would you like to get married? It was May for me! Here's our inspiration banner:

Let's see how the Design Team views romance and marriage:

Winners for Challenge #149

Good things come in threes, or fours or even sevens, and we had a lot of good things in our sketch challenge this round! Three to party turned out to be balloons for sure, but also flowers, and frosty treats and others!
Our choices for the two winners are:

Our Top Pick is: Joanne James

This sketch was totally made for the balloon pop-up dies and to make it a shaker card just added to the party appeal, especially with the vibrant colours Joanne used! The Design Team was ready to party on after seeing Joanne's cute card!

And our Featured Artist is: Heather Heroldt

Balloons were in the sketch, yes, but how clever was Heather to think of Hot Air Balloons, and the Design Team was taken with the bright colours and beautifully balanced composition of this project! Bravo!

Congratulations to our two winners, and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back tomorrow and check out our new challenge tomorrow! Think colour! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Three to Party!

Good things come in threes they say! (And bad things, too, but we're all positive here at AYSI!) This challenge is about a group of three and balloons make me think party! But you are not restricted to balloons or parties! Three of something in the middle that will work with this sketch that Amanda gave us! Have fun with it!

Let's see what the Design Team were thinking in triplicate about:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch and to substitute one   shape for another but we must still be able to see the sketch   in your finished submission.

Winners for Challenge #148!

The colours for this challenge were so pretty, and like the Design Team, most of you thought in floral themes, but that didn't stop a few more unusual ideas, including a flying piggy and a card full of beetles! Bravo for thinking outside the box!

Our choices for the two winners are:

Our Top Pick is: Heather Heroldt

Heather has created a pleasing floral pattern using these spring colours in a well-balanced design. The polka-dot embossing in the background is a perfect foil for the light feel of the flowers! Lovely card!

And our Featured Artist is: Teresa Kline

Teresa created a fabulous one layer card! The Design Team loved the newness of the look, like the flowers are springing out of puddles of watercoloured rainbows. The first thing that came to mind was April showers bring May flowers! And the big, bold sentiment contrasts so well with the background! Well done!

Congratulations to our two winners, and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back tomorrow and check out our new challenge tomorrow! Think colour! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Dream in Colour!

Do you dream in colour? I barely remember my dreams, so I can't recall, but if I do, these are the ones I'd pick for spring colours, because they're perfect for flowers and that's just what most of the Design Team were inspired to do with the colour challenge. But don't feel like you have to use flowers in your design. You are the master. Let the creative spirit move you!

And now, see how many different ways you can use these colours to create different flowers, thanks to the Design Team:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Stampin Up colours are used for reference but any matching colours are welcome. You can use black/neutral for outlines and sentiments but don’t use any other colours.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI148 when uploading to a public gallery.
