Haste Makes Taste!! - Challenge #160

We haven't had a Speed Stamping Challenge in a long while, but we are asking you to challenge yourself, in the next two weeks, to create a card in under 10 minutes! "WHAT?!" you exclaim,"That's impossible!" Well, it isn't, as our design team will show you, but you can design it in your head or sketch it out first. You can gather all your supplies ahead of time. But once you start the stamping/die cutting/embossing/etc. process, you must start the timer! You have 10 minutes! Let us know, with your entry, how long it took you to complete your card or project! The key is to KISS!! Keep It Simple, Stamper!

Also, you can use any shades of Orange, plus neutrals, but no other colours!

Let's see how the Design Team managed the time limit:

Amy Jasper 8m1s

Jan Clothier 9m34s

Taking break this week

Tara Angus 9m0s

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • You can come up with your design and gather materials before you start the clock, but once you start work, you have to complete your design in 10 min.
  • Use only shades of orange and neutrals in your project.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI160 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines.

Winners for Challenge #159

What a great collection of entries we had in our Collection Challenge! Such a variety of ways to use 5 design elements! I wish we could have picked them all, it was such a close race! But here are the winners:

Our Top Pick is: Jenny Engelke

Jenny combined the rooster with barn wood and gingham to create a rustic take on the sketch. We loved how her design elements came together in such a natural way and how she used old products with new ones to create her card!

And our Featured Artist is: Tammy Nyenhuis

Tammy's whole design was inspired by a brad - an awesome wedding cake brad, by the way! The Design Team loved her crisp, nautical looking DSP and the adorable bird couple on the dark blue background! We're so glad she chose our Collection Challenge to get back into playing them again!

Congratulations to our two winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new and interesting Speed Stamping challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Eclectic Collections - Challenge #159

I think most papercrafters are, by association, collectors! There are so many jokes flying around about stampers' or scrapbookers' stashes that we know most of them off by heart now! So it only makes sense to have a Collection Challenge once in a while. For these challenges, you must use all the elements in the collection on your creation, but other than that, let your imagination have free rein and have fun!

Let's see how the Design Team managed the collection:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Use every element in the collection, but the possibilities within those parameters are endless.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI159 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines tab.

Winners for Challenge #158

Thanks to all those who participated in our Doily Dreams Challenge! Your entries were dreamy! We had everything from babies to pumpkins! It's always hard to make a choice, but the Design Team was in agreement on the top two, so:

Our Top Pick is: Ingen

Ingen popped three personality-filled pumpkins on paper with a palette of orange, black and white and came up with an adorable Halloween piece of eye-candy! The white doily makes a perfect contrast for the paper and the pretty black twine that finishes it off! Thanks for sharing your card with us, Ingen!

And our Featured Artist is: Heather Heroldt

The Design Team fell in love with those adorable pumpkins, backed by the spider web doily. With all the twisty vines and ferny leaves in shades of green, this Halloween card is definitely a treat for the eyes and Heather's trick with the sentiment left us all admiring her skills! Congratulations, Heather!

Congratulations to our two winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new Collection challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Doily Dreams - As You See It Challenge #158

Where are you at with your card making? Are you stubbornly holding on to summer, refusing to get started too soon on that long, long Christmas greeting season? Are you into fall greeting cards at all? Do you do Halloween cards? Wherever you're at, this sketch should work for you, as long as you include a doily of some kind behind the main panel or something of similar shape or concept! There, that leaves it fairly wide open for you! Have fun!!

Let's see how the Design Team does doilies:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch and to substitute one   shape for another but we must still be able to see the sketch   in your finished submission.

Winners for Challenge #157

Thanks to all those who participated in our Flower Frenzy Challenge! Some stunning entries! Without further ado:

Our Top Pick is: Jari Francis

Stampin' Up! Snowflake Sentiments-Cardiology by Jari

Jari used an eye-grabbing palette of black, white and silver for her frosty design. The snowflake dies she used were a perfect choice for the intricate images of the sketch! We loved the silver embossed sentiment and the one perfect silver snowflake on the horizontal black panel! So stunning!

And our Featured Artist is: Jo Mo

The Design Team loved the creative interpretation of the sketch that Jo-Mo did with the soft vellum clouds lifting up the bright hot air balloon! The clouds were all different, but subtle - not stealing the show from the vibrant balloon with its bling and lovely colours! It lifted us all up!

Congratulations to our two winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new sketch challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Flower Frenzy - Challenge #157

This challenge reminds me of the time of the summer when gardens are at their peak, a riot of colour and blooms and foliage just before they start to die back before the fall weather sets in! Just look at the tangle behind the horizontal bar in the sketch that Amanda has given us this time! But don't feel that you are limited to flowers! The Design Team certainly hasn't! Explore all possibilities and have fun!

Let's see what was on the minds of the Design Team:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch and to substitute one   shape for another but we must still be able to see the sketch   in your finished submission.

Winners for Challenge #156

Amanda definitely gave us a challenge with this last set of colors: Real Red, Elegant Eggplant and Lemon Lime Twist! Most entrants said they had a bit a of struggle with the combination at first, but the amazing creations that came out of the struggle were well worth the effort it took! Well done, AYSI-ers!! Out of all those masterpieces we chose two for our Top Pick and Featured Artist and here they are:

Our Top Pick is: Jari Francis

We love the way Jari was able to make these colours work together so naturally. The wreath and the flowers are so lovely while the Eggplant and Red make a background statement without being overpowering! And the Lemon Lime gives the perfect amount of pop!

And our Featured Artist is: Jo Mo

The Design Team fell in love with those quirky little flowers, but what really caught our collective eye was the unique split rectangle background, white on white, with the stitched edges and the way the colours pop against the white cardstock! Such a creative design, Jo Mo!

Congratulations to our two winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new sketch challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.
