Challenge #271 - Flash Dry

For this challenge we are doing a Speed Stamping Challenge and the theme for the challenge created by Design Team member Heather H. is Staying Dry! So to get your adrenaline pumping in the most enjoyable way, create a card or other stamped project in under 10 minutes that illustrates the theme of staying dry in some form or another! Please let us know how long it took you to make it in your description.

When we do a speed challenge we are not expecting a detailed masterpiece from you. We want you to have fun and see what you can create in under 10 minutes! You can design it in your head or sketch it out first. You can gather all your supplies ahead of time. But once you start the cutting/stamping/die cutting/embossing /etc. process, you must start the timer!

challenge #271

You have 10 minutes!
Let us know, with your entry, how long it took you to complete your card or project! The key is to KISS!! Keep It Simple, Stamper!

Let's see what the theme means to our Design Team in under 10 min.:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging project that fits the challenge.
  • You can come up with your design and gather materials before you start the clock, but once you start work, you have to complete your design in 10 min. State in your blog or description, how long it took you to make it.
  • Use the given theme in your project.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYS271 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines.
  • You can combine our challenge with up to 3 other compatible challenges.*
  • We do reserve the right to delete, or not consider, entries that do not comply with these guidelines.*
*Just a note: These last two guidelines have been stated all along under the Challenge Guidelines tab on our site, but with the number of entries that have been exceeding the number of challenges entered guideline lately, we thought it would be a good idea to bring it to your attention. Why do we have this guideline? The spirit of our challenges is that we want them to inspire you rather than just be one of a list of challenges that just happens to fit a card that you've already created.

Winners for Challenge #270 - Spring is in the Air

Spring is definitely in the air, in fact, we had a run of spring fever here at As You See It Challenges! We had so much fun checking out all your blog posts with your beautiful spring flower projects! Thank you for sharing them with us! It was a definite hopeful uplift! But then we had to choose winners! How do you do that when they are all so gorgeous? But that's our job as a Design Team, so here are the winners for Challenge #270:

Our Top Pick is: Deborah Wheeler

top pick

There is so much texture in this bunch of daffodils card, including the brick-embossed background and the daffodils themselves, being created from layering dies. The Design Team liked the way Deborah enhanced the layering with ink blending to give the layers more definition! A lovely spring creation!

Our Featured Artist is: Stef Perry

Stef's beautifully composed spring floral caught the eye of the Design Team! The colouring was masterfully done. The lovely texture in the background was broken up by the pale yellow backing of the florals which added to spring ambience as well as providing the perfect backdrop for the spring flowers. But the master stroke was the way the flowers burst through the frame and extended beyond it, giving a sense of exuberance and joyfulness. Congratulations, Stef!

Challenge #270 - Spring is in the Air

I don't know about where you live, but here in the north one of the most anticipated and longed for seasons is spring! After months of cold temperatures, often below zero, harsh winds and piles of snow, everyone begins to dream about the snow melting, rain falling, longer days, buds on the trees and the first sight of spring flowers! It can't come fast enough. Then, one day, as you survey the garden you see it - a little green shoot - the first sign of the first crocus! Spring is definitely coming!! Which of the spring flowers do you love to see? Create your card or project based on that!

Winners for Challenge #269 - Recipe to Think of You

Thanks to all the test cooks who tried out our Recipe Challenge last week! The beauty of pastels combined with embossed texture and die cuts made for some very lovely creations! We loved the way you embraced all the elements in the recipe and integrated them so creatively! We had quite a few of you to choose from for our winners and where you have the challenge of creating, we have the challenge of choosing from among such talent! Here are the winners of our Recipe Challenge:

Our Top Pick is: Amanda Mertz

amanda mertz

Amanda chose the perfect combination of colours to represent a soft pastel palette. Her textured background gave a kind of regency glamour to her card. Her colouring demonstrates an older technique using blender pen and ink pads and the sharp nib on the blender pen is perfect for small areas. The Blushing Bride bow on the die cut image panel and the sentiment completes the ingredients in the recipe!

Our Featured Artist is: Mary Deatherage

Mary's sheaf of pastel wildflowers and grasses on a neutral background is striking and beautiful. The colours she has chosen work so well together and the textures make for a rich experience for your senses. The extra elements like the splatters and butterflies add so much to the overall effect while all the basic elements of the recipe are there and complete! Three Michelin stars for this cook!
