Challenge #214 - Pure Colour

This week we have another colour challenge, splashed together by Design Team member Amy! These are such pure colours, maybe a bit tropical, definitely lending themselves to the natural world. But, with this palette, your imagination sets the limits! Let's see what you think of! Here's the banner:

How did the Design Team spread the pure joy of colour this week:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Stampin' Up! colours are used for reference but any matching colours are welcome. You can use black/neutral for outlines and sentiments but don’t use any other colours.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI214 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines tab.

Winners for Challenge #213 - A Circular Argument

Well, I knew if I called this challenge a Circular Argument, that most people would use circles in their projects and that's just what happened, with a couple of brave souls venturing to use other shapes, but whatever geometric for you used, you gave us some lovely creations and made us work to come to consensus! There were a lot of 'Circular Arguments' happening!! Anyway, without further ado, here are our winners:

We had a tie for Top Pick this week:

Our first Top Pick is: dj

DJ's traditional rich colours, stitched shapes, flouncy twine bow and shiny red button all combine to build a very Christmas-flavoured and attractive card! This project is a veritable feast for the eyes! Congratulations, dj!

Our Top Pick is: Heather Heroldt

Heather used a different mix of patterned paper to convey a holiday flavour in her entry and achieved a real country look. The fun is in the mixing and matching and the strings of lights gave the whole card a light-hearted look! Jolly good, Heather!

Our first Featured Artist is: Mary Deatherage

The Design Team adored the rustic look of Mary's Christmas creation, from the wood and burlap backgrounds, to the old-fashioned ornaments and muted colours, and finally the beautiful font on the sentiments. And let's not forget the music notes, the stitched shapes and the gorgeous bow above the ornaments! The beauty is in the details and this card is loaded with them! A tip of the hat to you, Mary!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new Colour challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Challenge #213 - A Circular Argument

Time for another Sketch Challenge here at As You See It Challenges! I had a hard time coming up with a name for this sketch. Yes, it's full of circles, but I didn't want you to feel constrained by the shape so I was trying to keep the word circle or circular out of the title. I went round and round with a few ideas, even going as far as 'Alien' (see if you can figure out why), before I just gave in and decided to let a circle be a circle. Hence, the title was born. All that being said, those shapes don't have to be spheres! Enjoy some artistic license!

Feel free to rotate or flip the sketch, just keep the integrity of it, so we can recognize it. How will you get around this?

What circles are the Design Team moving in these days?

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch and to substitute one   shape for another but we must still be able to see the sketch   in your finished submission.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI213 when uploading to a public gallery.

Winners for Challenge #212 - I Want You To colour Me Blue - Quickly!

Well, all you speedsters out there - you really are getting good at doing Speed Stamping Challenges! It's kind of amazing what you can do in under 10 minutes, isn't it? And the stories about finishing your cards that we read in your blog posts! They were so entertaining, and in some cases, our adrenaline levels rose just hearing the harrowing tales of die cuts gone wrong or crooked sentiments! But kudos to all of you heros for taking the chance and playing along! Here are our winners:

Our Top Pick is: Ilse Stouten

Ilse's sponged background and layered scene in blue foil and light blue glitter paper is so precise and well planned out that it looks like she took a long time over it, but having everything there and ready to go with a clear picture in your mind is half the battle with Speed Stamping Challenges. This design really packs a design punch because of the contrast between the blue images and the white background!

Our first Featured Artist is: Lindsey Bowe

The Design Team was very impressed with Lindsey's snowflake creation including the stitched details around the die cut window, the vellum and the amazing background technique and the reversal with the snowflakes white against the blue background as opposed to the blue snowflakes against the white background in the foreground! That snowflake stamp is also a stunner! And to think she created this in under eight minutes! Wow! Well done, Lindsey!
Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new Sketch Challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.
