Challenge #199 - Copacabana

Okay, I don't know why, but the first word that came into my head when I saw this inspiration photo was Copacabana(and now the song is stuck in there)! I think it was the feathers and the colours. Then I noticed that the wall was made of something like giant Lego bricks! And there is bright pink shag carpet! So I don't have a clue where this is or why this is, but it has these colours and I'm calling it Copacabana, so.... Good Luck!!

Let's find out how the Design Team created meaning out of all that:

Taking a break

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

Winners for Challenge #198 - Wings

It's been a slow couple of weeks but the entries finally flew their way home to roost in our gallery and they took some flights of fancy along the way! May I just say that our Design Team loves to read your blog posts and see the stories behind your creations and we're so grateful that you take the time each week to check out our challenges and come to play along.  Here are the winners:

Our Top Pick is:

It's all the fantastic little details that make Linda's card such a winner, from the beautifully embossed background, to the stitching, to the choices of designer paper and the lovely ombre butterfly. This card creates a stunning representation of the sketch! You nailed it, Linda!

And our Featured Artist is: Mary Deatherage

Mary has created the quintessential beachy themed card, using the magical technique of paper piecing and she used the perfect choice of designer paper to add to her beach umbrella and deck chair with meticulous fussy cutting! All the other details of her creation add more awesomeness, like the Seaside embossing, the palm tree stamp and the ribbons and doily! Makes me want to head to the beach immediately!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new colour challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Challenge #198 - Wings

Welcome to our new sketch challenge! The reason for calling this one Wings is obvious, but don't be stuck on the birds, butterflies and bees! That shape can be anything you want! Spring is sprung here in my part of the world, but in other hemispheres the leaves may be falling so just enjoy the layout! Go on - earn your Wings!

Let's see what flights of fancy the Design Team took:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch and to substitute one   shape for another but we must still be able to see the sketch   in your finished submission.

Winners for Challenge #197 - Starbursts and Lace

Simple or fancy, this sketch for our latest challenge left a lot of leeway for interpretation and we got so many sweet designs: delicate to rustic and beyond! Like sunbeams through lace curtains conjures up feelings of warmth and home, your creations just made us all warm inside! Here are the winners:

Our Top Pick is: Mary Deatherage

The neutral palette of Mary's Easter Card is unusual but so artistically effective! The Design Team loved the layering of her sentiment panel, and the way that the twine bow and burlap ribbon added some rustic texture! The use of the white craft ink was particularly effective. If a card can be rustic and elegant at the same time, I think Mary nailed it!

And our Featured Artist is: Jenny Engelke

Jenny must have spent oodles of time working on that beautiful bouquet that is the focal point of her card. With a variety of colour shades and floral shapes, layered so carefully, she has created a spectacular 3D bunch of florals but the overall impression is clean and simple. So gorgeous!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new sketch challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.
