Challenge #262 - Summing Up Christmas

Design Team member Joanne is looking for meaning in our next Fill In the Blank Challenge. Christmas is important to so many of us, but what is the key thing for you? How would you fill in the blank: "The one things that sums up Christmas for me is: ______________."?

This week's challenge is a fill in the blank challenge. You complete the sentence by filling in the blank, then you make your project based on the words you used to fill in the blank. How would you fill in this blank? Now, take on the challenge of making something amazing with it!

And make sure to tell us, in your blog post, how you Filled in the Blank!

Winners for Challenge #261 - Clean and Fresh and our Next Guest Designer

We're excited to announce the winners of Challenge #261 because the Featured Artist will be our Guest Designer for the next Recipe Challenge in two weeks! We're very keen to work with the winner! I loved the colours in this Colour Challenge and apparently, so did you. Our gallery was resplendent with deep purples, bright greens, silvers and lots of clean whites. It reminded me of blackberry picking in the wilds of the West Coast of BC. And choosing winners was like trying to pick the most luscious berries from the basket - an impossible job, but we had to do it! So the winners are:

Our Top Pick is: Stef Perry

top pick

There are so many details to notice in this eye-catching design from Stef Perry! The background has a detailed paper-pierced design created with a die. She has done painstaking copic work on the foliage and berries then die cut and mounted them. But the piece-de-resistance is the holographic silver lettering built up with white cardstock and mounted on the Blackberry Bliss shadow backing! So impressive!

Our Featured Artist is: Janet at Tiny Paper Blossom

Janet has a fabulous watercolour technique as she tackled this beautiful stamped image. The background is spectacular using grays and a technique called watercolouring through a stencil. The sentiment is embossed silver on the Blackberry Bliss cardstock! (Note that the lilac under the card is an envelope, not part of the card.) The Design Team was very impressed with the whole project and are delighted to be able to work with Janet as our Guest Designer on our upcoming Recipe Challenge in 2 weeks! Congratulations, Janet, and we will be in touch with you with the details.

Challenge #261 - Clean and Fresh

There's something innately refreshing about the colour palette that team member, Leanne came up with for our newest challenge. With the deep purple of Blackberry Bliss, the bright freshness of Granny Apple Green and the cleanness of silver and white. We hope you enjoy designing with these colours as much as we did!

Each time we have a colour challenge, the Featured Artist will have a chance to become a Guest Designer for our next Recipe Challenge 4 weeks from now. So enter with that in mind! We're so excited to work with you for a challenge!!

Remember, if you don't have the Stampin' Up! colours, use the colours you have that are the closest. Your project should use all these colours only and 1 neutral. (Neutrals include black, white, vanilla or Crumb Cake.)

Winners for Challenge #260 - Perpendicular

There's something so satisfying about right angles. Maybe that's why they call them "right" angles! At any rate, they make for a lovely card layout and the entries in our latest challenge, Perpendicular, really did them justice! Here are the winners:

Our Top Pick is: Deborah Wheeler

top pick

Deborah did an amazing job ink blending for the horizontal AND vertical elements of this sketch!  The Design Team loved the way the colours in both of these elements echoed each other. The were the perfect background for the beautiful lined stamp of the heron! All in all, an artistically beautiful entry!

Our Featured Artist is: Akiko Sudano

This week's Featured Artist, Akiko, has created a stunningly beautiful landscape that deserves to be framed! From her subtle but lovely sponged sunset in the background, to the masked birch trees she has stamped to the details of the land and the leaves and the textured layers, this is a work of art! The Design Team was unanimous!

Challenge #260 - Perpendicular

Perpendicular elements are a sure thing in a sketch, and thanks to Design Team member, Jane, we have a great sketch making use of them this week. Have some fun with it, especially with the main image panel. The sky's the limit with what you can include on that!

Feel free to rotate or flip the sketch, just keep the integrity of it, so we can recognize it.

How graphic did the Design Team get with the sketch? Let's see:
