Winners for Challenge #194 - Simple Is As Simple Does

We were simply blown away with your entries for our fill in the blank challenge #194. Everyone had great definitions of simple and then provided wonderful samples! Our only problem was that it was not simple to pick winners. But after discussion, three finally did emerge, with a tie for Top Pick. Here they are:

Our first Top Pick is: Karen Finkle

Karen's definition of simple is a card that can be completed in under ten minutes, but what she can achieve in that time is amazing! The Design Team loved how she used the stardust stamp along with the butterflies to create a simply beautiful design!

Our second Top Pick is: Ingen

Ingen has created a great desert scene that incorporates lovely texture, beautiful colour and vibrant embellishment that echoes the colours in the stamped image. Her definition of simple includes a quiet card with lots of white and no design paper and I think she has shown us exactly how beautiful that can be.

And our Featured Artist is: Jen Mitchell

When Jen completed the prompt for this Challenge, she said that when she thinks of simple, she thinks of white space and a focal image that is bold and maybe dramatic. When you look at her entry, you can see the way she accomplishes this. The Design Team just loved the bold, graphic design and the clean, crisp look. Fabulous!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new sketch challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

As You See It Challenge #194 - Simple is As Simple Does

If you remember the movie Forrest Gump, when people asked if he was stupid, he would reply, "Stupid is as stupid does." Today we're giving you a chance to tell us what "simple" means to you. It's a "Fill In The Blank" Challenge with "When I think SIMPLE, I think of __________." Just fill in the blank and then make a project based on that. Let us know in your post how you filled in the blank! Simple is as simple does, right?!

Let's see how the Design Team do SIMPLE:

Amy Jasper
When I think SIMPLE, I think of punches and patterned paper.

When I think SIMPLE, I think of lots of white, few colours and a simple image.

When I think SIMPLE, I think of just stamp, ink and paper.

Jane Knudsen
When I think SIMPLE, I think of clean and simple.

LeAnne Pugliese
When I think SIMPLE, I think of stamps, ink and one layer of paper.

Tara Angus
When I think SIMPLE, I think of back to the basics with paper, ink & a little bit of flare!

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.

Winners for Challenge #193 - Eclectic Style

Well, we collected quite a few Collection Challenge entries last week and we were impressed with your sense of the eclectic! And all that Poppy Parade really put us in a Valentine's mood! The collective consciousness of the Design Team deliberated conscientiously and came up with our winner's for Challenge #193! Here they are:

Our Top Pick is: Julie Gearinger

Julie's creation was a masterpiece of layering and combining patterns. We loved the way she used the black matting on each element to hold it all together. And the Eiffel Tower was a stunning focal point with the contrasting Poppy Parade! Beautiful!

And our Featured Artist is: Joanne James

Wowza....this is stunning!  So clean, simple and yet very, very elegant, proving that you don't need a ton of elements to satisfy the Collection Challenges!  The Design Team loved the simple addition of the striped ribbon with the DSP!  And the focal image is coloured masterfully! You hit this one out of the park, Joanne!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new fill in the blank challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.
