This was our last challenge of 2021 and we will see you again with our next challenge on January 14, 2022! In the meantime, we want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Now on to our winners for this challenge! Because we had only a few entries, we will not be awarding Honorable Mentions this time.

We had a tie for Top Pick:

Our first Top Pick is: Cindi Copeland

top pick 1

The beautiful snowflake die cuts and negative spaces combined with the lovely shades of light blue gave Cindi's card a delicate look, very put together for such a short time of working on it! The blue gems gave a perfect finishing touch!

Our second Top Pick is: Deborah Wheeler

top pick 2

The depressed recess around the lovely embossed snowflake was made using a creative technique that you're going to want to read about in Deborah's blog post. The snowflake itself is embossed with a sparkly embossing powder which adds an extra dimension to the design.

Our Featured Artist is: dj

DJ's lovely, clean design and pretty combination of colours for her stamped snowflakes create a winning combination! The Design Team love the font combination in the stamped sentiment and the way it was die cut and mounted in the time allowed. A very pleasing design for Featured Artist. Congratulations, dj!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! Come back and join us again on January 14th for our next challenge, a sketch challenge. Our winners today can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Challenge #265 - Speedy Snowflakes

For our last challenge of 2021, we are doing a Speed Stamping Challenge and the theme for the challenge created by Design Team member Jane is Snowflakes! So your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create a card or other stamped project in under 10 minutes that contains snowflakes in some form or another! Please let us know how long it took you to make it in your description.

When we do a speed challenge we are not expecting a detailed masterpiece from you. We want you to have fun and see what you can create in under 10 minutes! You can design it in your head or sketch it out first. You can gather all your supplies ahead of time. But once you start the cutting/stamping/die cutting/embossing /etc. process, you must start the timer!

Have fun with this one and enjoy your holidays! Merry Christmas from everyone on the As You See It Challenge Design Team. We will be taking a break for the Christmas season, and will rejoin you with our first challenge of 2022 on Friday, January 14th.

Winners for Challenge #264 - Fur & Feathers

Everyone loves their pets and there are some adorable stamps out there to prove it!  We had so much fun checking out all your blog posts with not only your amazing pet projects, but also with your stories and photos of your own pets, especially around Christmas time! Thank you for sharing all that with us! It was a definite festive uplift! But then we had to choose winners! How do you do that when they are all so cute? But that's our job as a Design Team, so here are the winners for Challenge #264:

Our Top Pick is: Nancy J.

top pick

How adorable is this gob-smacked kitty?!! We loved the "deer in the headlights" expression and the sparkly Santa hat! The stencilled background kind of looks like he was busy playing with a ball of wool, getting into some mischief, so with that awesome sentiment, which box would you tick: Nice, naughty, cute or all of the above? We're thinking the last one and Nancy's workmanship and creativity should earn her a place on Santa's team without a doubt!!

Our Featured Artist is: Valérie

Valérie's perturbed pup gave us all a laugh!  The look on his face as he wonders how that star got on his tail! Valérie's colouring skills and her beautiful CAS design with the offset green and red frames create the most eye-pleasing Christmas pet card you could wish for, a great candidate for Featured Artist this week! Congratulations, Valérie!

Challenge #264 - Fur & Feathers and Design Team Changes

Before I introduce today's Theme Challenge, we have a sad farewell and an exciting introduction to make!

This will be the last challenge on which Amy Jasper will be with our Design Team. Amy is so sad to say good-bye to As You See It, having been with us since the start of the Challenge Blog way back in 2013!! But she feels it is time for her to move on. I know we will all miss her amazing creativity. We can attribute our beautiful new graphics and also those gorgeous card samples every week to her outstanding design skills!!! Thank you for all you have done for As You See It Challenges, Amy, and we wish you the best for your future! Please check in with us from time to time!

But we also have some exciting news! We have a new Design Team member joining our team starting with this challenge! This new member has been a devoted follower of the As You See It Challenge blog for years and a great designer in her own right. We are excited to introduce you to the newest As You See It Design Team member, Heather Heroldt!

Please leave both Amy and Heather some love in the comments!

Now on to our Theme Challenge! What makes more of a mark in our hearts than our pets? They are loyal, loving and always there for us. So as we head into the holiday season, we thought they deserved a shout out! How would you make a project honoring pets?

Winners for Challenge #263 - Recipe for Celebrating Neutrals

Oh, the texture and neutral yumminess of our last challenge!! Thanks to all of you who entered! We loved the way you embraced all the elements in the recipe and integrated them so creatively! Who knew that five elements could be combined in so many different and lovely ways? Well, actually, we did and it was a challenge to choose between them, but we managed and without further discussion, here are the winners of Challenge #263:

aysi top pick badge

Our Top Pick is: Tenia Nelson

top pick

The fascinating line image of the reindeer (look at that expression!) against the texture of the vertical element and the black & white gingham background with little touches of silver created a great lesson in design! We loved the one word sentiment!! All the challenge elements were met in some unexpected ways and, as always, impeccable craftsmanship!

Our Featured Artist is: Carol

The Design Team loves surprises, and as we were wondering where the one word sentiment was in Carol's entry, that adorable little reindeer pops up and voila: Joy!! Aside from that creative secret, there is so much texture and neutral richness in Carol's design, and that reindeer die creates such a crowd pleaser, am I right? What a cool way of combining the five  challenge elements!

Challenge #263 - Recipe for Celebrating Neutrals

How do you react to neutral tones? Are they the back up team or the main stage event? Design Team Member Jan has devised a Recipe Challenge to bring neutrals into the limelight. You have to include all the elements in the recipe on your creation, but how you do that is up to you! Have fun and commence cooking!!

challenge #263

We are so pleased to welcome our fourth guest designer, Janet Katz, (who was our Featured Artist on Challenge #261) for this challenge.

Winners for Challenge #262 - Summing Up Christmas

Oh, my goodness!  I knew stampers were passionate about Christmas but our latest Fill In The Blank Challenge #262 - Summing Up Christmas produced many beautiful entries! To say we had difficulties picking the winners would be an understatement! Just a note about future Fill in the Blank Challenges you might want to enter: Please make sure to let us know in your blog or entry somewhere what WORD or WORDS you used to fill in the blank! We had several entries we couldn't consider, as lovely as they were, because they didn't tell us how they filled in the blank.

Without further ado, I want to introduce you to our winners! Here they are:

We had a tie for Top Pick:

aysi top pick badge

Our first Top Pick is: Sherri Thacker

top pick 1

Sherri's patience and persistence paid off as she experimented to create the perfect night sky and brilliant star beam as a background to the amazing wise men die cuts she used. The perspective in the card is unusual and very evocative and puts that star right in the focal plane!

aysi top pick badge

Our second Top Pick is: Mary Deatherage

top pick 2

Mary's words to fill in the blank were Christmas Trees and she used the cutest die cuts to accomplish the illustration of her idea! These whimsical trees were the focal point of a snowflake glittered background of non-traditional colours and light-hearted fun! And look at that cute envelope, too! This one left the Design Team with a glimmer in their eye!

Our Featured Artist is: Milla

featured artist

Milla completed her sentence with the word "peace" and her card reflects peace in the vintage look of her flickering candles lighting up the darkness around them. Milla did an amazing job on the colouring of her images and in the ink blending that happened all around the edges. The details like the ink splattering added an extra dimension of sparkle to the project. Congratulations, Milla!
