Challenge #182 - Divided

Today we have a funky new sketch challenge by Amanda, that I've called Divided! And you can see why! However you decide to divide your front panel is up to you, but you must keep the integrity of the sketch so that we can recognize it in your creation. Use the Design Team's samples as a guide.

If the Design team is divided, which side are they on anyway?

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch and to substitute one   shape for another but we must still be able to see the sketch   in your finished submission.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI182 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines tab.

Winners for Challenge #181 - Obsession

Wow! So papercrafters have a whole range of different obsessions, from craft supplies to techniques to hoarding! No big surprises there! But it was fun turning our obsessions into projects and there were some beauties! Our Design Team obsessed over these two winners:

Our Top Pick is: Jenny Hall

Jenny's obsession with the Stitched Season dies has been put to amazing use here with a shaped, double Z fold card that is beautifully watercoloured and takes your breath away! You've got to visit her blog to see it from all angles! Wow! A worthy obsession indeed!

Challenge #181 - Obsession!

Should we indulge our obsessions? Sometimes it's not a good idea to get carried away with something that we want to spend all our time doing. Papercrafters know that better than most people, I'll bet. But this week we're giving you permission to indulge your stamping obsession to the hilt in our latest challenge! It's a "Fill In The Blank" Challenge with "I am TOTALLY obsessed with:______." Just fill in the blank and then use that something to make your project. Let us know in your post what that something is!

Let's see what the Design Team are maniacal about:

Amy Jasper
Letter Boards

Dreamcatchers.

Playing with layers.

Jane Knudsen
Patterned Paper

LeAnne Pugliese
The SU Subtle Dynamic Embossing Folder.

Tara Angus
Kits to take along on holidays!

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Fill in the blank with the words that are right for you and then create your project with those words in mind. Tell us, in your blog or on your site, what words you used.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI181 when uploading to a public gallery.

Winners for As You See It Challenge #180 - Everything Old is New Again

So our challenge was challenging, but several of you were up to it and gave us some lovely entries in the gallery! Thanks for playing along! We love your creativity. Without further ado, here are our two winners:

Our Top Pick is: Sona D.

There's something so appealing about Sona's card! Is it the well-chosen colours? Is it the stitching? Could it be the creative interpretation of our sketch or the well-placed embellishments? It must have something to do with that adorable image! Or maybe they just all combine to make a very eye-catching and award-worthy entry! It certainly hooked our Design Team!

And our Featured Artist is: Sarah Stone

Talk about being faithful to the sketch, Sarah's entry nails it!! And her retro colours carry on the vintage theme of the challenge as well! The Design Team loved the delicious freshness of Sarah's card with her berry images! Lovely!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new "fill in the blank" challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

As You See It Challenge #180 - Everything Old is New Again

Today we have a new sketch challenge by Amanda, and at first glance, it seemed to me to be a bit old-fashioned, until I realized that all those vintage shapes are making a comeback these days and that if you wait long enough, almost everything comes back into style again. Everything old is new again. Except polyester suits from the seventies. Those will NEVER come back in style!
Have fun with these shapes and don't be afraid to take some liberties!

How old was the Design Team thinking? I'll let you decide:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch and to substitute one   shape for another but we must still be able to see the sketch   in your finished submission.

Winners for Challenge #179 - Warmth

Looking at all your beautiful entries kept us warm as toast for two weeks! That really was a gorgeous colour combination, to which all the amazing projects in the gallery will attest! Here are our winners for Challenge #179:

Our Top Pick is: Lindsey Bowe

Lindsey's sweet and simple dandelion creation caught our attention for the beautiful background she created for the embossed dandelion seeds. It was so perfectly and smoothly smooshed and the rest of the card is so clean and classy, we all fell in love with it!

And our Featured Artist is: Jen Mitchell

Jen's elegant and beautifully stamped butterflies are the perfect images for the colour palette of our challenge this time and we were intrigued with the sponge daubing technique Jen demonstrated with the layers! The black accents bring everything into focus and add depth and interest to this beautiful design! The Design Team all agree," Nailed it!"

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new sketch challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Challenge #179 - Warmth

I just get warm all over when I look at these colours! It reminds me of seeking out the sunny spots in the garden and lifting your face to the sun and just soaking up those sun's rays for a few minutes, letting your whole body warm! But they're also great colours for flowers, or sunsets! You be the judge! Let's see what you come up with.

Let's find out how the Design Team used the palette we were given:

Amy didn't have a card for us this week but there is an incredible reason why. Please click on her link to find out what she's been up to!

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Stampin Up colours are used for reference but any matching colours are welcome. You can use black/neutral for outlines and sentiments but don’t use any other colours.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI179 when uploading to a public gallery.

Winners for Challenge #178 - Fresh

Well, you wouldn't believe how many definitions there are in the minds of our participants for the word,"Fresh!" I admit I was surprised at the many I had never even thought of. But they were all legitimate and creative and we really enjoyed your take on our theme challenge last week! Our Top Pick and Featured Artist were:

Our Top Pick is: Amy Koenders

Amy's definition of fresh was fresh air and she created a beautiful outdoor scene complete with a wooden frame. The Design Team was impressed with her colouring skills on the forest scene and that her frame even had mitred corners! Wow! And that vellum banner with the beautiful sentiment on enhances the whole creation!

And our Featured Artist is: Jenny Hall

                                   Better With You card created by Jenny Hall at www.jennyhalldesign.com for #cardmaking #cardmaker #watercolorpainting #birdstamp #birdart #jennyhall #jennyhalldesign #stampinup #stamping #rubberstamp #handmadecard #crafts #diy #papercrafts #lifestyle #handpainted
The Design Team loved the sentiment on Jenny's card because it perfectly sums up what we feel about Jenny's talents! That adorable watercoloured bird looks so perky and fresh in aqua and yellow and we loved the creative background, enhancing but not detracting from the bird as the focal point! An award winning design, all around!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new colour challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.
