Winners for Challenge #293 - Recipe in Pinks & Pearls

Thanks to all the test craft cooks who tried out our Recipe Challenge last week! The wonderful variety of entries we had was so enjoyable. It was interesting to see everyone's interpretation of the word "distressed", and those blossoms were gorgeous, as were all the shades of pink! We loved every minute! Now, down to business: here are the winners of As You See It Challenge #293:

Our Top Pick is: Jenny Engelke

top pick

Ever see two unlikely designs that just work so well together? Jenny has taken the Hues of Happiness floral designs and the Like an Animal animal prints and textures and married them with pops of gold accents to cook up our recipe in a stunning way! And the gold pearls are such an elegant embellishment for the finishing touch! Beautiful work, Jenny!

And our Featured Artist this week:

Our first Featured Artist is: Kelly Schimer

featured artist

Kelly's beautiful die-cut hollyhocks are featured on her artistically laid out project. The Design Team loved all the shades of pink in both the hollyhocks and in the background paper! And that background paper fulfilled so many of the challenge elements on it's own: shades of pink, embossing folder and distressed paper! The multicoloured little pearls added a beautiful final touch to a project worthy of Featured Artist! Congratulations, Kelly!

Challenge #293 - Recipe in Pinks & Pearls

When I came up with this challenge, I was definitely thinking a bit shabby chic, but that is not a limiting factor here. You can use any style you want as long as you include all 5 elements of the recipe that you see on the Challenge Banner below! Please have some fun with it!!

You have to include all the elements in the recipe on your creation, but how you do that is up to you! Have fun and start your ovens, er...stamp sets!

challenge #293

We are so pleased to welcome our ninth guest designer, Jen Mitchell, (who was our Featured Artist on Challenge #291) for this challenge.

Thanks for sharing your favourites with us!

Without further ado, I want to introduce you to our winners! Here they are:

Our Top Pick is: Lisa K

top pick

Lisa's mirror imaged tulips are beautifully coloured with the beautiful pastels of spring! Doesn't it make your heart long for the start of the season and more colour in your life? Her layout is so pro because the black and white layers give the perfect frame for the images and the white on black sentiment perfectly focuses your attention! Lovely work, Lisa!

Our Featured Artist is: Vicky Hayes

You have to get a close up to really appreciate what Vicky has done with these gorgeous daffodils, and you need to read her description in her blog! She used an embossing folder to get the shapes and fussy cut them, then used alcohol markers so skillfully, you could almost swear you were looking at lifelike daffodils!! Then the layout, with the beautiful background paper and the CAS format and simple sentiment, gives you the dream card! Awesome work so worthy of Featured Artist, Vicky!

Challenge #292 - Raindrops on Roses

...And whiskers on kittens! Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings! These are a few of my favourite things....about spring! Well, I had to mess around with that one a bit; all that to introduce our new challenge this week! It's a fill in the blank challenge, created by team member Deborah, where you get to tell us what your favourite thing about spring is, and then make a project depicting that thing!

For a Fill in the Blank Challenge, you complete the sentence by filling in the blank, then you make your project based on the words you used to fill in the blank. How would you fill in this blank? Now, take on the challenge of making something amazing with it!

And make sure to tell us, in your blog post, how you Filled in the Blank!

Winners for Challenge #291 - Paint Pour

We're excited to announce the winners of Challenge #291 because the Featured Artist will be our Guest Designer for the next Recipe Challenge in two weeks! We're very keen to work with the winner! Our entries certainly did the colour challenge justice! So beautiful and very hard to choose!

Here are our winners:

aysi top pick badge

Our Top Pick is: Suzanne from Stamp n' Sip

top pick

Using the darkest colour as the background panel really allowed the collage of brighter coloured hearts to shine! The design was well balanced for colour and shape and the design team loved the addition of the darker coloured matte dots, which added some extra whimsy to Suzanne's delightful Valentine's display! It was a great way to present the challenge colours!

Our Featured Artist is: Jen Mitchell

As Featured Artist this week, Jen will also be invited to be our next Guest Designer! We loved that she used a CAS format to really highlight the Challenge Colours in her design without them taking over. She did an amazing job stamping the dahlias with those layered stamps, and we loved the way she used the ombre glimmer paper to represent the red and pink colours! It was so effective. Die cutting the leaves in the delicate vellum made them look so elegant, and really helped maintain the clean look of the design! Just stunning, Jen!

Congratulations, Jen, you will be our next Guest Designer for our Recipe Challenge in 2 weeks time. We will be in touch!

Challenge #291 - Paint Pour

January and February can be so blah in the Northern Hemisphere and really need an infusion of colour to add some life into the grey world. This colour challenge is a little pick-me-up designed to do just that! Imagine a paint pour featuring these colours, dark colours opening up to light, blues and pinks contrasting! Let's see how that stokes your imagination! (Note: You don't have to create a paint pour for this challenge!)

Each time we have a colour challenge, the Featured Artist will have a chance to become a Guest Designer for our next Recipe Challenge 4 weeks from now. So enter with that in mind! We're so excited to work with you for a challenge!!

Remember, if you don't have the Stampin' Up! colours, use the colours you have that are the closest. Your project should use all these colours only and 1 neutral. (Neutrals include black, white, vanilla or Crumb Cake.)
