As You See It Challenge #168 - A Flurry of Fun

We have a new and fantastic sketch from Amanda this week, and it just so happens that it is mega-appropriate from my point of view in the northwestern corner of North America, as we had a snowstorm this week with the BIGGEST snowflakes I have ever seen! But you need not use snowflakes in your design, because if you are in the southern hemisphere, you are definitely enjoying summer weather! And even in North America, you are probably yearning for flowers and butterflies right now, so let your imagination be your guide! Have fun with it!

See how the Design Team saw it:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch and to substitute one   shape for another but we must still be able to see the sketch   in your finished submission.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI168 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines tab.

Winners for Challenge #167 - It's All Perpendicular

Apparently, your right angles were all angled right for this past challenge, because we loved all the entries that came in: flowers and birds, horses, friends and even Santa made an appearance! Tough to choose, but here are our winners:

One Top Pick is: Char Crawford

Char had a great colour combination in her lovely card, and we liked the way she echoed the flowers in the background paper with the cut outs on the front. We especially loved the little twist on the theme she added, with the tilted frame around her sentiment!

And our Featured Artist is: JoMo

The Design Team loved all the layers and the colours in JoMo's design! The navy allows the pastels to pop and grounds the card's components so well! The combination of stamped and die cut elements for the vertical pieces of the sketch was an awesome move!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new sketch challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Challenge #167 - It's All Perpendicular

Amanda has given us an amazing sketch to work with for Challenge #167 and we hope you love it as much as we do! I remember learning about perpendicular lines in geometry and how satisfying they were, forming right angles with each other. So enjoy these perpendicular formations and have fun with the angles and remember that you can use your creative license a bit here as long as we can see the original sketch in your work.

Winners for Challenge #166 - Time to Sparkle

Apparently, you've all started the new year out with a resolution to spend more time sparkling in your craft rooms! What a shiny bunch of entries we received for the last challenge and OUR challenge was to choose the winners! There were so many good cards!!

One Top Pick is: Ingen

We loved the clean look the colour blocks in the background gave to Ingen's card. And what could be more sparkly than the flashes from many cameras going off! It made us think of the glitz of the red carpet in Hollywood during awards season!

And our Featured Artist is: Joanne James

Joanne played the sparkle card to the max here with her beautiful New Year's shaker card. From the hand stamped and embossed background paper that fooled us into thinking it was DSP, to the gold flakes in the shaker numbers to the glimmer paper sentiment, the whole Design Team was star-struck! We loved this design!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new sketch challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.
