It's Time to Sparkle - Challenge #166

In a couple of days, it will be New Year's Eve! Are you someone who likes to dress to the nines and go out and party? Or do you like to get comfy, curl up on the couch and contemplate? Our theme challenge this week kind of favours the partiers and the glitzy glamour associated with New Year's Eve! So, if you're a quiet contemplator like me, think fireworks and fairy dust, or dew on a spiderweb! Anything that will...

The Design Team was at their sparkly best:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI166 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines.

Winners for Challenge #165 - A Matter of Perspective

We hope you had a marvelous Christmas and that you're looking forward to a new 2018 full of crafting time! Some of you spent some quality time in your craft rooms over the past two weeks and the proof is in the pudding, as they say, with some wonderful entries to our last sketch challenge. Here are our two winners:

One Top Pick is: Heather Heroldt

Heather used a hand-stamped neutral background to showcase the brightly coloured images of the hot chocolate mugs to perfection and we loved that sentiment! You can't help but smile and feel the warmth when you see Heather's card!

And our Featured Artist is: Stasia Sloma

Stasia took the sketch to the limit by turning it on its side and stretching out the card dimensions horizontally and it really works well! We loved the black, green and white palette and that embossed sentiment is so elegant. When you add the beautiful stamped stars and the baker's twine as a divider, you really have a winner!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new theme challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

A Matter of Perspective - Challenge #165

We have another gorgeous sketch challenge for you today from Amanda! As I looked at the banner, trying to decide on a title for this challenge, I noticed the the placement of the images in the sketch really creates the illusion of depth and distance, so that is something you can incorporate into your project if you like, but you can totally just go with the elements provided in the sketch.

You don't need to use trees and stars, substitute any shapes you like, but please keep the integrity of the sketch. We're looking forward to seeing the perspective As You See It!!

See how the Design Team saw it:

On a break this time

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch and to substitute one   shape for another but we must still be able to see the sketch   in your finished submission.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI165 when uploading to a public gallery.

Winners for Challenge #164 - Christmas Cookies

It was very enjoyable, seeing the ways you used that marvellous colour palette from our last challenge. Thank you all for sharing your projects with us. Our winners are:

One Top Pick is: Imogen

This clean and simple beauty by Imogen used the colour palette with perfection by completing the triple-stamped candle image with our three different colours and adding a Flirty Flamingo sentiment as well. We loved the little white snowflake tucked under the bottom left corner to add some interest. Lovely card!

And our Featured Artist is: Melissa Grant

The Design Team loved Melissa's design here. The little village looks so sweet in the pink and aqua colours backed by the Pacific Point on the white background embossed with the Softly Falling embossing folder. All the details combined to make it a winner! Great design skills at play here!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new sketch challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Christmas Cookies - Challenge #164

Have you been icing Christmas cookies lately? What colours did you use for your icing? Isn't this just the most delicious looking colour palette ever? I've been playing around with it for a few days, and the more I work with it, the more I love it! It's not a traditional Christmas colour combination, but you can do so much with it! Your project doesn't have to have a Christmas theme, or a cookie theme, you just need to use the colours you have that are closest to these three, plus a neutral if you like. Have fun with it!

Let's find out how the Design Team used the palette we were given:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Stampin Up colours are used for reference but any matching colours are welcome. You can use black/neutral for outlines and sentiments but don’t use any other colours.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI164 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines tab.

Winners for Challenge #163

Well, it seems you enjoyed using banners again, or you enjoyed being challenged to come up with something to simulate the banners without actually using them. Whatever your choice, we had some spectacular projects this week and we loved hopping from site to site to look at them all! Well done, everyone! In fact, we couldn't come to a consensus on just two winners and we have a tie for Top Pick this week!

One Top Pick is: Cindy Major

Pattern Party Decorative Masks_Merry Little Christmas DSP_Cindy Major

Cindy's snow fall created with embossing paste over the black and green plaid designer paper was a show-stopper along with the lovely font of her sentiment combined with the varied green, black and white banners! It made for an entry that really caught the eye of the Design Team. Awesome!

Our Second Top Pick is: Cathymac

Cathy's adorable chickadee was a crowd fav and we loved how she stitched all those banners together from separate designer paper so that it all looks like it was meant to be together! Such festive Christmas colours and that gorgeous bow tied it all up in a winning package! Well done!

And our Featured Artist is: Melissa Grant

The Design Team were in awe of Melissa's flower garden alternative to the banners in the challenge sketch. The tone on tone background provided just the perfect backdrop to highlight the gorgeous colours in the Swirly Bird floral designs. Partner those with the awesome fonts in her sentiment and the beautiful sequins that embellish the card front, and you can see why she was the Design Team's choice for Featured Artist! Bravo, Melissa!

Congratulations to our three winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new colour challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Winners for Challenge #162

Panels! Quilt panels, electrical panels, discussion panels, wall panels! There is no end to the variety of panels there are and you certainly used your imaginations on the panels you used for your cards! Great job everyone! Here's our two winners:

Our Top Pick is: Eunice Stoneman

Eunice created a trail sign with an outdoors map as her three panels. We were amazed at her attention to detail, right up to simulated barbed wire wrapped around the sign post and the little screw-like fasteners in all the panels and on the sign post! Wowzers!

And our Featured Artist is: Deb Viens

The Design Team loved Deb's cheerful holiday card with the woodsy background and the panels created by the white fence slats. We loved the texture and the colour choices and all the little festive touches that she added, including that scrumptious velvet bow! Awesome!

Congratulations to our two winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new sketch challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.
