As You See It Challenge #185 - Coolness

I've always been kind of partial to blues, greens and teals, so this palette is really appealing to me. In fact, it's the epitome of coolness! Right? So let's see how cool you are. Enjoy!

Let's find out how the Design Team used the palette we were given:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Stampin Up colours are used for reference but any matching colours are welcome. You can use black/neutral for outlines and sentiments but don’t use any other colours.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI185 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines tab.

Winners of Challenge #184 - Back to Basics

Who knew you could create such winning designs with such basic tools. With just stamps, ink, paper, scissors and the odd ribbon or sequin or button, we had some beautiful cards on display in our gallery. Sometimes, it does us all good to get back to our roots! And here are the winners of this latest challenge:

Our Top Pick is: Marina

Marina's cool card was based on a book about Jazz pianist, Oscar Peterson! Her stamp is perfect for the subject and we loved the configuration of it in concentric circles. She has chosen cool colours to present it and has trimmed it out in a cool way as well. In fact, it's just cool all over!

And our Featured Artist is: Joanne James

Joanne's lovely dandelion creation is the epitome of back to basics, the proof that you can make a beautiful card with just stamps, ink, paper, trimmer and a small embellishment. The Design Team was unanimous in their admiration of the colours and the background details and the soft bokeh effect! Well done, Joanne!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new colour challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Challenge #184 - Back to Basics

In my part of the world, it was Back to School week, so this theme challenge is perfect timing here, but where ever you are at in terms of the school year, we can all get Back to Basics in our crafting! What does that mean? Well, we're talking real basics: paper, stamps, inks, maybe a touch of ribbon, scissors and paper trimmer - the bare minimum. What can you do with that? Let's see what you do when you get back to your roots!

See the Design Team tackle the basics:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI178 when uploading to a public gallery.

Winners for Challenge #183 - Queues

What a great lineup of talent we had in our gallery last week! (See what I did there?) You had so many different images strung out across your cards! And again we struggled with who to place in  Winners' Row! But this week it looks like the Southern Hemisphere wins out with summer images for their upcoming warm season. Take a look:

Our Top Pick is: Colleen Begley

Colleen's rainbow of beach huts on the sea textured background was a perfect way to use this sketch. We loved the way the little cottages picked up the colour design of the paper behind them and the little shore bird wading in the shallows is such an appropriate embellishment to the sentiment. Great queue, Colleen!

And our Featured Artist is: JoMo

How clever is this queue of Christmas lights with colours giving a nod to the Southern Hemisphere celebrating the holiday in the summer months? The Design Team loved how the sentiment ties in that theme, but especially the clean, crisp look of the card and the bit of bling from the tinsel ribbon that adorns it. The precision of the placing of the lights creates perfectly coordinated shadows and glow lines around each light. This creation really deserves the limelight!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new theme challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.
