Challenge #174 - Something Borrowed...

As a rule, I don't like borrowing things! Why is that? It's because I'm am so bad at remembering to return things, in spite of my best intentions! So I figure that if I just don't borrow, I won't be in people's bad books. However, I had to make an exception this week for the new As You See It Challenge! It's a Fill In The Blank Challenge with Something that I borrowed:______. Just fill in the blank and then use that something to make your project. Let us know in your post what that something was!

Let's see what the Design Team have been mooching off everyone:

.
Amy Jasper
Amy borrowed the Jar of Love Bundle.

Borrowed the Magical Day bundle from her downline.

Also borrowed the Magical Day bundle from a friend and borrowed the Retiform technique idea from a Stamp Camp a couple of years ago.

On a break this week
Jane Knudsen

LeAnne Pugliese
LeAnne borrowed the Bees & Blossoms Stamp Set from her sister.

Tara Angus
Borrowed the striped embossing folder.

Teresa Kline
Teresa borrowed the idea of using washi tape as DSP
  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Fill in the blank with the words that are right for you and then create your project with those words in mind. Tell us, in your blog or on your site, what words you used.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI174 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines tab.

Winners for Challenge #173 - Rorschach Ink Blots

Well, it seems like there were a lot of you willing to explore the creative side of your consciousness over the last couple of weeks and we got some amazing entries for our Challenge #173 - Rorschach Ink Blots! Choosing winners was an exercise in group awareness, but we were able to come up with two winners:

Our Top Pick is: Ingen

Ingen's beautiful watercolour background provides a stunning background for the perfect focal point - the birds die cut in white. We were intrigued by the way the Wisteria Wonder layer of the background actually looks like it's floating over the rest of it. A great take on the sketch!

And our Featured Artist is: Tenia Nelson

The Design Team were blown away by Tenia's amazing background treatment and the big, bold image embossed on it. We felt it really captured the spirit of the challenge. The colours are bright, but harmonious and all the little touches, like a perfectly placed sequin or piece of washi tape, contribute to the finished, professional look of Tenia's card!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new Fill in the Blank challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Challenge #173 - Rorschach Inkblots

Okay, I'll admit that the title for this challenge is not a very artistic or romantic one, but it's the first thing that came to mind when I looked at the banner for this challenge. (Do you see what I did there? First thing that came to mind....) There are a lot of possibilities for this sketch so let your imaginations run wild. Do not inhibit your Id! Let's see what you see in the inkblots!

And let's see what our Design Team has roiling around in their collective subconscious:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch and to substitute one   shape for another but we must still be able to see the sketch   in your finished submission.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI173 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines tab.

Winners for Challenge #172 - Serenity

An amazing collection of the serene and the sublime in your entries from our last challenge #172! I don't know about you, but that colour palette is definitely one that I'm going to pin away for future reference! In the meantime, here are our two winners:

Our Top Pick is: Ingen

Ingen's card is a lovely example of how to create your own designer paper. She used the pale Powder Pink colour to stamp the bird images in the background and then used the very saturated Tranquil Tide ink to stamp the focal image and sentiment right over top! With a sweet, white Baker's twine bow and a gray backing, she created a whimsically attractive greeting card.

And our Featured Artist is: Amy Koenders

By combining the challenge colours with a neutral copper, Amy designed a beautiful spring birthday card. The Design Team loved how she sponged the Powder Pink onto the white and copper designer paper and then backed the front panel with copper foil. The images and sentiment are embossed in copper and coloured in beautifully, and we loved the overall elegance of the result.

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new sketch challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.
