Winners for Challenge #277 - Fast But Slow

Ahhh! The old speed stamping challenge! Only for the strong of heart apparently! The brave, the daring, the crafter looking for a new way to challenge themself! Whatever! It's fun getting your adrenaline pumping - like watching a thriller movie, right?? Right??? Anyway, we had a few brave souls take on the challenge and we'd love to see a few more give it a try! What the heck? What do you have to lose? It's only one card and you might surprise yourself with what you can do in 10 minutes!

Now on to our winners for this challenge! Because we had only a few entries, we will not be awarding Honorable Mentions this time.

Our first Top Pick is: Yvon at Stempidoe

yvon at stempidoe

Yvon says she usually takes one or two hours to create a card, but she tried out our speed stamping challenge and completed this beauty in 9 minutes and 58 seconds! That wildflower creates a striking focal point against the radiating orange rays, making an eye-catching display. The Design Team loved the fussy cut sentiment, which really set off the whole thing!

Our second Top Pick is: Jolanda Johnstone

jolanda johnstone

Jolanda has speed stamping down to a fine art. If you want advice on how to do it, go to her blog. Her adorable elephant card with the great sentiment for a belated birthday was completed in 7 minutes and 41 seconds - the record for this challenge! We loved the colour choices and the way the balloon echoed the background paper. The sentiment she chose was so perfect and flawlessly embossed on the grey cardstock!

Our Featured Artist is: dj from Sendable Sentiments

dj

The Design Team love dj's hack of keeping a stamped and cut mask in the stamp set case to be reused the next time you need it. It will save you from having to repeat that time consuming step again. They also loved the beautiful design of dj's card, with the black and white light house against the blue sky and the green grasses. It was a beautiful comparison of man-made versus nature and stood out so well against the beautifully blended sky. Congratulations, dj.

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! Come back and join us tomorrow morning for our next challenge, a sketch challenge. Our winners today can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Challenge #277 - Fast But Slow

For this challenge we are doing a Speed Stamping Challenge and the theme for the challenge created by Design Team member Joanne is Belated Birthday! So you are making this project FAST but it's slow because it's too late for someone's birthday.. fast but slow!  So to get your adrenaline pumping in the most enjoyable way, create a card or other stamped project in under 10 minutes that illustrates the theme of a belated birthday greeting! Please let us know how long it took you to make it in your description.

When we do a speed challenge we are not expecting a detailed masterpiece from you. We want you to have fun and see what you can create in under 10 minutes! You can design it in your head or sketch it out first. You can gather all your supplies ahead of time. But once you start the cutting/stamping/die cutting/embossing /etc. process, you must start the timer!

challenge #277

You have 10 minutes!
Let us know, with your entry, how long it took you to complete your card or project! The key is to KISS!! Keep It Simple, Stamper!

Let's see what the theme means to our Design Team in under 10 min.:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging project that fits the challenge.
  • You can come up with your design and gather materials before you start the clock, but once you start work, you have to complete your design in 10 min. State in your blog or description, how long it took you to make it.
  • Use the given theme in your project.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYS277 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines.
  • You can combine our challenge with up to 3 other compatible challenges.
  • We do reserve the right to delete, or not consider, entries that do not comply with these guidelines.

With it's bright colours, jungle leaves and amazing, unique, ink blended background, Ingen's entry has a definite tropical flair! The Design Team were gob-smacked with the whole design and definitely felt the freshness and the thirst quenching appeal of Ingen's summer beverage! The font of the sentiment just added to the one of a kind quality of the whole card!  Just WOW!

Challenge #276 - Here's to Beverages!

In the Northern Hemisphere, the thirsty months are upon us! In the heat, a thirst quenching drink is so welcome. And in the Southern Hemisphere, where it is getting chillier, a warm beverage is just the thing to warm a person up! Which beverages do you crave right now? Create your card or project based on that!

Winners for Challenge #275 - Recipe for Subtle Beauty

Thanks to all the test cooks who tried out our Recipe Challenge last week! You combined something that started with B and the beauty of subtle colours, embossed texture and die cuts and it made for some very lovely creations! We had everything form butterflies to ballerinas! We had quite a few of you to choose from for our winners! Where you have the challenge of creating, we have the challenge of choosing from among such talent! Here are the winners of our Recipe Challenge:

aysi top pick badge

Our Top Pick is: Deborah Wheeler

deborah wheeler

Deborah's card reminded us of an impressionist painting with the awesome background paper, the lovely texture at the bottom and the die cut tulip heads. She combined every element of the recipe challenge so creatively and integrated them into the whole project seamlessly! Great job, Deborah!

And we have a tie for Featured Artist this week:

Our first Featured Artist is: Cindy Major

cindy major

Cindy's beautifully coloured ballerina is presented along with some creative recipe elements! The Design Team loved the floral paper with the gingham border, the quietly embossed background design and the torn, crinkled collage paper between them. The surprising shiny thing was the embossed sentiment, which was brilliant! Again a creative use of the elements and a beautiful composition!

Our second Featured Artist is: Johanna @LHC

johanna @ lhc

Joanna's sumptuous card is full of rich images that embrace all the elements of the challenge! The lovely blossoms and the blue focal point butterfly are the B items and the die cuts. The embossed background is coloured with a subtle colour as are the blossoms and leaves and the jewels in the centers of the blossoms and along the back of the butterfly provide something shiny! This project is the embodiment of our challenge title: Recipe for Subtle Beauty!
