Winners for Challenge #176 - Paper Mosaic

When we put all the pieces together from our Paper Mosaic challenge, we were amazed at the great results from our sketch challenge. Some followed the sketch very closely, and some followed the concept of mosaic, but all were lovely and made our choices difficult, but here are our winners:

Our Top Pick is: Joanne James

On the surface, Joanne's card looks fairly simple, some pretty designer paper with roses on it. But when you look closely, you'll see that she has cut pieces to match the challenge sketch mosaic from a second piece of the same design and aligned them with the first image. When you think about it, that would be enormously difficult, knowing where to cut them on the second piece so you would get the desired effect! Well, done, Joanne, especially your Math skills! The Design Team was highly impressed, in fact our heads were spinning!!

And our Featured Artist is: Carole Campanile

The Design Team were all drawn to Carole's lovely vintage black, white and grey tone patterned paper and how well it all coordinated. We loved how Carole flipped the sketch, which was a kind of serendipitous accident, but it really showcased the main image on her background paper. And the pops of bright yellow really were the icing on the cake! Gorgeous!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new collection challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Challenge # 176 - Paper Mosaic

The question I always have when I see those ancient, intricate tile mosaics is where did they get the patience to arrange all those itty bitty pieces of glass, stone or ceramics and make those beautiful pictures? I know I would give up before it was even started! But luckily, our challenge today is much easier than that!  Play it as a mosaic to use up your scrap pieces of designer paper, or think outside the box and get creative! Let's see what you can do. And have fun - that's the main thing!

How did the Design Team decide to tackle this one?

Winners for Challenge #175 - Speedy Shades of Grey

I hope no one earned a speeding ticket last week, after taking part in our speed stamping challenge! That adrenaline rush can be quite addictive! We were amazed at what can be accomplished in under 10 minutes, and again, choosing two winners was a challenge in itself.  But here they are:

Our Top Pick is: Heather Heroldt

Heather did amazing things with her 10 minutes! She embossed, she coloured with Blends, she fussy cut!! And all like a boss! Crazy! I bet she was humming with adrenaline when she was finished in 8 minutes and 35 seconds! Wow! Super composition and care went into this card!

And our Featured Artist is: Ingen Kok

As a Design Team, we all agreed that the unusual, but gorgeous die cuts, the watercolour background and the big, bold sentiment were masterfully created and arranged by Ingen all within 8 minutes and 30 seconds! Wow! Clean and simple, but artistic and eye-catching, this card would compete easily with many that would take quadruple the time to complete!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new sketch challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

As You See It Challenge #175 - Speedy Shades of Grey

It's been a while since we've had a speed challenge, but they do crop up every now and then, taking everyone by surprise! When we do a speed challenge we are not expecting a detailed masterpiece from you. We want you to have fun and see what you can create in under 10 minutes!  "WHAT?!" you exclaim,"That's impossible!" Well, it isn't, as our design team will show you, but you can design it in your head or sketch it out first. You can gather all your supplies ahead of time. But once you start the stamping/die cutting/embossing/etc. process, you must start the timer! You have 10 minutes! Let us know, with your entry, how long it took you to complete your card or project! The key is to KISS!! Keep It Simple, Stamper!

Also, you can use any shades of Grey, plus other neutrals but no other colours!

Let's see how the Design Team managed the time limit:

Amy Jasper 8m28s

Jan Clothier 9m20s

Tara Angus 9m40s

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • You can come up with your design and gather materials before you start the clock, but once you start work, you have to complete your design in 10 min.
  • Use only shades of grey and other neutrals in your project.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI175 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines.

Winners for As You See It Challenge #174 - Something Borrowed

I guess there may have been a lot of door knocking and phone calls between stampers over the last two weeks, seeking to meet our borrowing challenge! It was tough for some of you if you didn't have stamping friends nearby. Some resorted to borrowing ideas, which was a creative solution to the problem! None of you had to borrow talent, though! You had plenty of your own, and it made it hard to choose our two winners. But here they are:

Our Top Pick is: Ingen

Ingen has reached the top two picks for a stunning 3 times now, and no wonder with her adorable alligator coloured with a technique borrowed from Amy Rohl and the bright colours in her paper choices. Her design brings it all together in one fabulous package!

And our Featured Artist is: Jenny Hall

Sea of Textures Bundle with Magical Mermaid stamp set created by Jenny Hall at www.jennystampsup.com for #cardmaking #stamping #diy #handmade #stampinblends #seaoftextures #mermaid #jennyhall #jennyhalldesign #jennystampsup #youtuber #papercrafts #crafts #bluehair #stampinup

The Design Team was in love with Jenny's blue haired mermaid as she peers into her undersea world of watery texture and colour and coral. Guess what Jenny's borrow was? Yes, it was the blue hair, from her friend's love of hair tinted that hue! Jenny has done a marvelous job of colouring her mermaid as well as creating the wide frame which shows her off to perfection.

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new Speed challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.
