Challenge #170 - Bits and Pieces

When I looked at our new sketch from Amanda this week, I had a bit of trouble coming up with a title for it. I love the sketch but it is a bit of a potpourri! A little of this and a little of that! So that's where the title comes in: Bits and Pieces! Wait...wasn't that the name of a delicious, crunchy snack food we used to have a while back? I can hardly wait to see what bits and pieces you throw into yours!

See how the Design Team saw it:

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging   project that fits the challenge.
  • Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch and to substitute one   shape for another but we must still be able to see the sketch   in your finished submission.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the   challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we   can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI170 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines tab.

Winners for Challenge #169 - Way Back to the Future

What a blast from the past we had, reading through all of your blog posts and finding out how you got your starts in papercrafting! And it was so much fun to see all those old stamp sets and tools, as well. What a nostalgia trip! Here are our winners:

Our Top Pick is: Joanne James

Joanne's cross-stitched based card features a vintage stamp set that we think would be right at home in today's stamping catalogues! Her sweet CAS design also features a die cut needle that looks real (fooled us) and an adorable mini-embroidery hoop! We love how the baker's twine matches the stitches in the image!

And our Featured Artist is: Julie Gearinger

Julie's rich design reminded us all of the magic to be created with a heat gun and embossing powder - one of Julie's first papercraft tool purchases! Her skills have really been developed to amazing levels since her start, as her embossing involved masking and restamping. Julie's gorgeous roses are coloured vividly and contrast so well with the moody, smoky stenciled background! Beautiful!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new sketch challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.

Challenge #169 - Way Back to the Future

Think back! Think waaaayyyy back to when you first started papercrafting. Can you remember your first significant crafting tool, or a stamp set that made you fall in love with stamping? Do you still have it? What's the oldest tool or stamp set you still have in your stash? Would you dare to use it again? The Design Team, though challenged a bit, ended up really having a nostalgic good time with this "Fill In The Blank" Challenge. Fill in the blank with the words that work for you and then use them in your project! Enjoy your walk down memory lane!

The Design Team have been papercrafting for various lengths of time, so you will see different levels of retro in our projects:

Winners for Challenge #168 - A Flurry of Fun

And we had a flurry of amazing this time. The Design Team loved what you did with the sketch and we enjoyed reading your blog posts and celebrating your creativity! Here are our winners:

Our Top Pick is: dj

We are all ready for the tropics, because the coral and the palm trees really struck a chord with the Design Team! We loved the texture in dj's creation as well, and the CAS design and how well it worked with the Waterfront stamp set!

And our Featured Artist is: Joanne James

Joanne blew the Design Team away with her gorgeous layers of Valentine loveliness! And you have got to visit her blog, if you think this is amazing, to see the incredible matching treat box she concocted! The bold colours, the balanced design, the metallic shine and the perfect combination of die cut sentiments sends this card over the top!

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! I hope you'll come back and check out our new Fill-in-the-Blank challenge tomorrow! Our winners can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites.
