Winners for Challenge #240 - Recipe for Winter Fun

There were flurries of snowflakes last week here at As You See It Challenges drifting over die cuts and patterned paper in hues of red and green, all tied up with twine or ribbon and it looked fantastic! There were many beauties to choose from! Just a note: This was our last challenge before Christmas. We will be starting up again Jan. 8 with a bit of a facelift, so you can look forward to that! Best wishes of the season to all of you! Let's find out who the winners were:

Our Top Pick is: Malina G.

Malina's watercoloured poinsettia really pops against the neutral background and the snowflake-patterned tag it's mounted on! The die cut sentiment in gold really adds a classy element to this beautiful card! But the fun part is the assortment of embellishments, looking like sprinkles on a cake, and the braided twine on the tag!

Our Featured Artist is: Johanna at LHC

Johanna's beautiful card features a neutral background with the elements of the challenge in varying shades of green and pops of red and gold and white. The realistic looking die cuts of the foliage against the tiny polka dots looks so great and the little snowflakes perfectly balance the card. Then there's the font on that sentiment! So perfect for an elegant creation!

Challenge #240 - Recipe for Winter Fun

Design Team member Jane has been in the kitchen whipping up a new Recipe Challenge for you today and I know you're going to love it - the possibilities are endless! The main design element seems to be snowflakes, but will they be separate or combined with the other elements? It's up to you? How will you fit in the die cut, the patterned paper, the twine and the colours? You can get really creative with this! You have to include all the elements in the recipe on your creation, but how you do that is up to you! Have fun!!

**Note: This is our last challenge before Christmas! It ends on December 16th and we will be taking a bit of a break to redesign our graphics and we'll be back, giving you more of the challenges you love on January 8th! In the meantime, have a happy and healthy holiday season!

Winners for Challenge #239 - Not My Jam

There was a lot of jam making going on at As You See It Challenge over the past two weeks, with our participants choosing the colours that they really did not feel the love for, that really were not their jam, so to speak, and using them to make sweet confections! Some definite themes emerged - purple grapes and orangey oranges were among the top unfavourites to jam with! But some other unexpected ones occurred as well! What was really amazing was how well you crafted with colours you don't like! Let's find out who the winners were:

Our Top Pick is: Christine Blain

Christine is really averse to So Saffron as a colour, but when she paired it up with Basic Black and got it to pop, she was able to come up with a design she liked. Sometimes, it's all in the pairing, and not always just for wine!! The Design Team were really intrigued with the way Christine was able to get so much texture from her ink and that fabulous stamp works so well for emboss resist! Awesome card!

Our Featured Artist is: Gayle Chrvala

Gayle created this stunning Christmas card with masses of her least favourite colour, gray. With that quiet gray background, the intricate snowflakes and the bold sentiments, especially the one die cut in rid, just popped! It is reminiscent of a Scandinavian Christmas card! Very effective and eye-catching!

Winners for Challenge #238 - Aura

There was definitely an aura in our challenge gallery this time, with so many beautiful entries that the Design Team's collective mind was absolutely blown! Those colours made for the most amazing images!  It was so hard to choose winners, but that is what our job is, so here they are:

Our Top Pick is: Nicole Wilson

Nicole has used a variety of techniques in her beautiful card, from stamping her own designer paper in the background, to brayer blending a layer from black to basic gray, then spritzing with shimmer paint and dry embossing and finally using alcohol makers to oolour. She has used the challenge colours to their top advantage in a way that really caught our eyes!

Our Featured Artist is: dj at Sendable Sentiments

These colours were perfect for a sunset silhouette and dj really did this concept proud with her colourfully patterned sky and dark tree outlines! The black ribbon and the Basic Gray die cut tree outline really create a bold foreground and the illusion of depth. Congratulations, dj.

Challenge #238 - Aura

It's time for another Colour Challenge and our Design Team member, Jan came up with this beauty! It's almost "other worldly". I don't know if I would have ever thought of putting all four of these colours together but they are so amazing as a combo! I've called this challenge aura, and we're interested in seeing what kind of aura your creation projects!

Remember, if you don't have the Stampin' Up! colours, use the colours you have that are the closest. Your project should use only these colours and 1 neutral.

challenge 238 1

Here's what the Design Team were projecting this week:

challenge 238 2

challenge 238 4

challenge 238 5

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Stampin' Up! colours are used for reference but any matching colours are welcome. You can use black/neutral for outlines and sentiments but don’t use any other colours.

Winners for Challenge #237

I may be biased, but I thought we had some of the loveliest cards in our Sketch Challenge Gallery this week!! We hope you enjoyed putting your slant on our sketch! We looked at the entries from all angles and finally came up with some winners! Without further ado, here they are:

Our Top Pick is: Gayle Chrvala

Gayle found the loveliest embossing folder to enhance her crisp white split background for this challenge and layered it over a mango cardstock to give a fall ambience to her sunflower card. We loved the look of her layered zenflowers and the cheery hello over polka dots! What a welcome to the autumn!

Our Featured Artist is: Cindi Copeland

Cindi's card looks just like a cozy gift sweater all wrapped in a bow for Christmas! The Design Team loved the cable knit embossing and thought the touch of tulle was brilliant. The vanilla and cream palette is such a clean, warm look, too! We wanted to fetch our sweaters just looking at it!

And we think you may want to check out the following Honorable Mention on her site:
