Challenge #253 - Fast Foliage

Our last speed challenge was blossoms! Continuing on the same flora speed track, this time we move on to leaves - fast foliage. How quickly do you think you can make a card featuring greenery? Under 10 minutes? Good, because that's what a Speed Challenge requires and what Design Team member Jan had in mind when she chose this theme for the speedy stampers you all are!

When we do a speed challenge we are not expecting a detailed masterpiece from you. We want you to have fun and see what you can create in under 10 minutes! You can design it in your head or sketch it out first. You can gather all your supplies ahead of time. But once you start the cutting/stamping/die cutting/embossing /etc. process, you must start the timer!

challenge 253 1

You have 10 minutes!
Let us know, with your entry, how long it took you to complete your card or project! The key is to KISS!! Keep It Simple, Stamper!

Let's see how many leaves our Design Team members stamped in 10 min.:

Winners for Challenge #252 - Apply the Y!

If you were searching for a Father's Day card last week, you could have browsed our gallery for ideas! There were some amazing projects there! So many variations on a masculine theme, there was something for everyone! I'm sure there were many happy dads out there if they were the recipients of these cards! Thank you to all of you who shared your designs with us! It was sheer agony to choose! Here are the cards which applied the "Y" in a way that particularly caught the eye of the Design Team:

Our Top Pick is: Rosemary D.

Rosemary created a really unique masculine card using a triangle graphic design. The interesting thing about this clean graphic piece is that the triangles are all offset on the top left and balanced with the sentiment on the bottom right which enhances the risky vibe of it. The heavy use of navy with the white background gives a nautical feel to it as well. Top marks for originality!

Deborah's stag image almost jumps off the page at you with the beautiful sponged background and the over stamped layers of trees. The Design Team loved the heart in the antlers of the majestic deer. Her professional framing and paper layering really made the whole project come alive. All these elements created a very artistic design.

Challenge #252 - Apply the Y!

Father's Day is just around the corner, so our next Theme Challenge is timely. The goal is to create a project in honour of the Y chromosome! Make a masculine-themed card for Father's Day or any occasion! And that's all the direction I'm going to give you. The rest I'll let your taste dictate!

Winners for Challenge #251 - Recipe for a Happy Birthday

Our gallery was filled with streamers, party hats, ice cream and birthday cakes these past two weeks! And everything else under the sun including a unicorn! Par-tay!!  The elements of our Recipe Challenge were added to your creations in many marvellous ways! Thanks to everyone who entered! But we had to pick some winners and here they are:

Deborah took some fantastic alcohol ink blend background paper and embossed some super fine birthday sentiments on top of it, then used the extra for her large "happy" die cut sentiment! The black banner with white embossed sentiment, the crisp white blow, the black matte and white card base all work together to create a really sophisticated birthday card with a beautiful colour palette! A real Top Pick in the Design Team's book!

Our Featured Artist is: Jolanda Johnstone

Jolanda's creation evokes the days of live plants and macramé hangers and macraméd wall medallions. We love the abundance of texture in Jolanda's card, the silver embossed medallion in the background and the beautifully stamped and die cut elements of the focal image. The variety of shades of greens had us counting them up! Jolanda's attention to the little details like shading the edges of the tag so it would show up and using a darker green on the leaves in the background than the foreground all combined to make her our Featured Artist this week.
