Challenge #370 - Popular Cardable Occasions

Some say the tradition of sending a greeting card is dying, or has died. I like to think that it has undergone a change. I think people still like to receive cards, but with the Internet there are all sorts of ways to send people greetings on special occasions, so the compulsory aspect is gone. I think that's a good thing. Those who like to make and send cards can do so for both the giver's and the receiver's mutual enjoyment. Others can send greetings by email or text, or a phone call.  Our challenge this week is a Fill In The Blank Challenge dreamed up by Team Member Heather H. She and your Design Team want to know:

challenge #370

Besides Christmas, what event has you mailing more cards than any other?

And what does the challenge require? Make us a card for that event and post it in our gallery along with your entrance information! In your blog or on your website, tell us with what words you filled in the blank!

Let's see what that event is for our Design Team members:

Challenge #369 - Soft Spring Colours

Although Winter is not leaving without a fuss, we've had some really warm days here and the bulbs are up and blooming, so spring is inevitably on it's way to stay, and with it, all the beautifully soft pastel spring colours. That's what this challenge reminded me of when I saw it:

challenge #369
These colours are really perfect for Easter as well, which will be here in a week. Just a couple of reminders: If you don't have the Stampin' Up! colours, use whatever you have that's closest to them. In a colour challenge, you use only the 3 or 4 colours given (3 in this case) plus outline can be stamped in black, white can be used as a base and you can include a neutral.

And in case you don't remember, the winner of this challenge, the Featured Artist, will have the opportunity to be our Guest Designer for Challenge #371, the Recipe challenge in a couple of weeks after this one.

Now, let's see how our Design Team used these beautiful colours:

Winners of Challenge #367 - Lickety Split Lavender

"Lickety split" as an expression first appeared in the 1800s, mimicking the sound of a railroad car going over the tracks quickly, and so came to mean rapid movement. And, of course, lavender is a light shade of purple.  So lickety split lavender means speedy purple, just what we needed for our speed challenge with a purple theme! And I think you all had fun with it, at least that's how your blogs made it sound! Your cards were so lovely! We had a heck of a time picking winners! But here they are:

aysi top pick badge

Our Top Pick is: SmilynStef

top pick

The Design Team loved that April-like floral paper Stef used for the card base – what a lovely spring feeling she started with! Then she added the purple strips and those gorgeous butterfly stickers to grab our attention and topped it off with that snappy sentiment and embellishments! Congratulations on Top Pick,Stef!

Our Featured Artist is: Jenny Martin

Jenny Martin, our winner, and Featured Artist, chose an orchid as her purple flower for the speed challenge, and what a great choice it turned out to be!  She stamped the bold outlines then added a small amount of purple in the middle and leaves, buds and centers in green. She managed this, plus bold sentiment and die-cutting an elegant frame in the challenge deadline of 10 minutes! Congratulations on earning Featured Artist, Jenny!
