Winners for Challenge #379 - Hastened Handicrafts

Hasten means Speeding up an event: Causing an action, process, or result to occur much earlier than it normally would.

And all of you hastened to make your speed challenge card with the craft theme, but it's hard to tell that it took you 10 minutes or less. All of your entries look very professional! Well done! Here are the winners of our challenge:

Our Top Pick is: Gayle Chrvala

top pick

Can you believe that this is Speed Stamping entry?? There's a lot of ink blending to do with those masks in order to make that beautiful quilt focal point! Not one's usual choice for a speed stamping challenge! Then the background makes a whole other texture and depth statement of note! And to tie it all together - a cute and catchy sentiment! All in 8 minutes and 45 seconds!  What a more could you want?! Perfect for Top Pick! Congratulations,  Gayle!

Our Featured Artist is: Christy Stanford

Christy, our winner, and Featured Artist, used a tried and true method of speed stamping, DSP! But she used it in such a powerful way that many of the Design Team were smitten with her card! Not only did she choose some stunning patterned paper (DSP) with sewing as her craft, she displayed it in an eye-catching way, with well-chosen colours matting the layers of DSP. She made use of dies to create shapes around the edges of the shapes and the sentiment tag! Congratulations on earning Featured Artist, Christy!

You're allowed to plan your card, get out all your tools and materials, mount your stamps, open your ink pads, but the moment you cut cardstock, ink up a stamp, or die cut, or fussy cut something, you must start your timer.  Enjoy!!

Our Top Pick is: Christy Stanford

top pick

Simple, but artistic, Christy's creation is a summer feast for the eyes, with a great use of contrast and design! The yellow abstract sun stamp in the background contrasts with the blue and white patterned paper, and blue and white sentiment and shadow that reminds one of an ocean wave! Then those adorable little flip flops really become the focal point and an iconic summer symbol! What a great classic for Top Pick this week!

Winners for Challenge #377 - Recipe for Happy Yellow Flowers

The Design Team were stoked with the designs of the entries in our Recipe for Happy Yellow Flowers Challenge! It always amazes me how the same 5 elements can result in such a variety of entries, all of them uniquely beautiful. And that makes being the ones who have to pick the winners a very tough job! Nonetheless...

Here are the winners of Challenge #377!

aysi top pick badge

Our Top Pick is: Cat Craig

top pick

Cat's entry shows that all is not lost when that stamp gets the better of you! Cat used a full card stamp and the two of them had words, but she showed incredible creativity in the remediation, by making use of the big, bold sentiment in the recipe challenge and adding drop down shadows to give a couple of smudges more meaning IRL! And look at the adorable result: Happy Yellow Flowers with a big, bold Thanks! Cat, your card embodies Top Pick! Congrats!

featured artist

Our Featured Artist is: Teresa S.

Teresa has used a masks to make some astounding sunflowers, the iconic  yellow flower of summer. Notice the skilled work of her ink blending as she used the masks. The bold sentiment in gold appears to be layered to make it 3D! And the dark green of the leaves really provide a contrasting backdrop. Congratulations, Teresa, on being this week's Featured Artist!

Challenge #377 - Recipe for Happy Yellow Flowers

Cooked up anything tasty lately? Tried any good recipes? Well, today, we've got one for you thanks to our team member, Joanne: a Recipe for Happy Yellow Flowers, and at this point in July, I think we might be talking either sunflowers or cone flowers! Any others that you can think of? Asters or chrysanthemums? Anyway, a Recipe challenge requires you to use all 5 elements given to you in the recipe, but how you do it is up to you! We always get delightful surprises every time we have a recipe challenge! Have fun with it!

challenge #377

Remember our Colour Challenge a couple of weeks ago? Well our Featured Artist from that challenge was given the opportunity to be a guest designer for this challenge. I'd like you to meet Jaydee:

And here is the beautiful card she designed for this challenge! Enjoy!:
