Winners for Challenge #352 - The Shape of Things to Come

It was so much fun, and informative, too, reading about everyone's favourite shape.  And here are your winners for Challenge #352!

Our Top Pick is: Deb Horst

top pick

Deb's sense  of  humour is shining through here as she has used her favourite circle shape as coffee rings, highlighting a frazzled bird with bad morning vibes. I can just hear the poor thing saying, "Don't talk to me until I've had my first cup of coffee!" The sentiment is hilarious: Caffeinate and hope for the best!  and the coffee beans and coffee splatters add to the stressed atmosphere! Congratulations on Top Pick, Deb!

Our Featured Artist is: Birgit

birgit

Our Featured Artist, Birgit, has used her favourite shape, the oval to create a beautiful background display for her florals. The variation of colours for the lavender plants, the butterflies flitting around, and the background texture all contribute to a rich and pleasing design. Note how the embossing flattens out for a place to add the sentiment, another great usage of shapes in this layout. Congratulations on being the Featured Artist, Birgit!

Challenge #352 - The Shape of Things to Come

Do you have a favourite shape that you use on your cards? What if there was an alien invasion and they only allowed you to take along 1 shape of die on the spaceship when they abducted you? Which one would you choose? Which shape could you not craft without? Our creative team member, Joanne, needs to know!

With a Fill In the Blank Challenge, you answer those questions, fill in the blank, then make a card with the answer in mind! How much fun is that?

challenge #352

Let's see what shapes our Design Team can't live without:

deborah wheeler

Deborah Wheeler

Deborah's favourite shape is a square.

heather cooper

Heather Cooper

Heather really couldn't do without the boring old rectangle!

heather heroldt

Heather Heroldt

Heather can't go with using circles on her cards.

jan clothier

Jan Clothier

Jan has captured the market on swoopy circles!

joanne james

Joanne James

Joanne cornered her share of the market in swoopy circles, but specialized in red!

leanne pugliese

LeAnne Pugliese

LeAnne is going for circles as her favourite shape here although one could make a case for hearts!

Here are some guidelines for the challenges:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging project that fits the challenge.
  • Stampin' Up! colours are used for reference but any matching colours are welcome. You can use black/neutral for outlines and sentiments but don’t use any other colours. Make sure you use all the colours in the challenge banner. Neutrals include black, white, vanilla, Crumb Cake.

Winners for Challenge #346 - A Blast from the Past

It was so much fun, and entertaining, too, reading about everyone's favourite retired crafting tools and how they use them! There were definitely some of my old favourites in the lists! And when you see the same tool listed time after time, you KNOW it was an oldie but a goodie!  And here are your winners for Challenge #346!

aysi top pick badge

Our Top Pick is: Milla

top pick

Milla's favourite tool is a retired stamp set with an adorable, whimsical image of a bird and a wreath! There might be some argument about a stamp set being a tool, but you really couldn't stamp without stamps, so they are tools in the wide sense of the word. Milla has created a beautiful CAS card here with it, using cool colours, lots of textured white space, and a great background paper! The scalloped edged die cut was the perfect display panel for the stamped die cuts! Congratulations, Milla!

Our Featured Artist is: Sandra Strobel

Our Featured Artist, Sandra Strobel, has created a steampunk project in a collage formatl! The Design Team loved that there were so many gears, chains, and other mechanical details, thanks to Sandra's favourite punches that she has kept, but also that the light coloured wood and blue theme, kept it from being overpowering! It's a feast for the eyes! Congratulations on being the Featured Artist, Sandra!

Challenge #346 - A Blast from the Past

Not all of us are hoarders, but I bet that most of us keep some retired or discontinued crafting tools that we love, that we swear that we'll NEVER get rid of! What tools are those, in your case? Care to share what they are and why you are keeping them?? When I concocted this challenge I thought maybe we'd not only find out some interesting stories, but maybe we'd find some new uses for tools that we were unaware of! I'm really looking forward to this one!!

challenge #346

Let's find out what retired tools our Design Team vow to keep until life as we know it comes to an end:

deborah wheeler

Deborah Wheeler

Deborah wants to keep this Stained Glass Easter Window stamp in perpetuity!

heather cooper

Heather Cooper

Heather C. has an unhealthy desire to hoard all her punches!

heather heroldt

Heather Heroldt

Heather vows to never part with her Stamp-a-ma-jig!

jan clothier

Jan Clothier

Jan has a life-long relationship with the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder!

joanne james

Joanne James

Joanne will never part with her Bunny Builder Punch ... or itty bitty flower punches, or Scalloped Contours Dies!

leanne pugliese

LeAnne Pugliese

LeAnne will never let go of her polka dot embossing folder!

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging project that fits the challenge.

Winners for Challenge #340 - Pesky Resolutions

It was so much fun, and enlightening, too, reading everyone's crafting resolutions for 2025! I have to admit that this was the first time that I'd thought of even making them for the crafting aspect of my business! Some of your resolutions were oh, so familiar, but with great ideas to accomplish them, while some were unique and thought-provoking. And before I get too philosophical, let's get back to the delightful task at hand, which is naming our winners!

Wouldn't you know it? We have a tie for Top Pick:

aysi top pick badge

Our first Top Pick is: Michele Ferguson

top pick 1

Michele's crafty resolution for 2025 is to find workarounds for products she doesn't have instead of having to buy them. She proved this is more than possible when she made this beautiful card with the extra layer ending just short of the top. Instead of buying an edger die, she used a word shadow die and adapted it to make it an edger die, then added the word to it as well. This bold sentiment is accompanied with a beautifully stamped and coloured bird in a budding tree.  So worthy of a Top Pick! Congratulations, Michele!

aysi top pick badge

Our second Top Pick is: LeAnne Pugliese

top pick 2

LeAnn resolved to use more embossing folders in 2025 and she got a good head start by using no fewer than three of them in this vintage beauty. She layered 3 panels of distressed, embossed cardstock just like embroidered ruffles, each layer different from the other 2. By adding the scalloped Crumb Cake edging, the Cherry Cobbler twine and the heart designs, she bumped the whole project up a notch or two. So worthy of a Top Pick! Congratulations, Michele!

Our Featured Artist is: Sandra Strobel

featured artist

Our Featured Artist,Sandra, has created an masculine project in a collage formatl! The Design Team were so thrilled not only the richly coloured paper she chose for the backgrounds, but also the array of cool designs she added - filmstrip, car, gears, among many others. The longer you look, the more things you find, like the edging and the sprinkling of rhinestones. Congratulations, Sandra, amazing work and a great start on your resolution of creating more masculine themed cards!!

Challenge #340 - Pesky Resolutions

January is the time for making and, yes, breaking, New Year's resolutions. Do you make resolutions about your crafting activities? What are they this year? Thanks to Team member Heather H, we have a Fill-In-The-Blank Challenge this week asking all about them! Take a look at our Challenge Banner:

challenge #340

For a Fill-In-The-Blank challenge, the idea is to finish the sentence by filling in the blank, and then make a card or project based on the words you used to fill in the blanks. Then, let us know, in your blog or post, how you finished the sentence.

Let's see what our Design Team are resolving to do this year:

heather cooper

Heather Cooper

Heather is resolving to enter more card challenges this year.

Heather Heroldt

Heather is planning on making more Christmas cards as she ran out of them this past year.

jan clothier

Jan Clothier

Jan's crafting resolution is to make time to play along with challenges just for fun!

Jane Knudsen

Jane wants to use ink blending and colouring more this year.

joanne james

Winners for Challenge #334 - Using Spaghetti to Craft

Wow! We really learned a lot from your posts this week! Some of you had some unique faves that you love to craft with! And then some of you love the same things that many of us do, but you create beautiful techniques with them. I really loved this challenge, but I confess, I was hoping that someone would use spaghetti to craft!! However, we must carry on with our job and announce the winners of Challenge #334:

aysi top pick badge

Our Top Pick is: Bronwyn Eastley

top pick

If you hadn't already guessed, Bronwyn's favourite thing to craft with is pretty paper, and has she ever used it to full capacity with this card, creating a beautiful vista from the farmhouse porch, over the fence and out to the pastures beyond, all created from beautiful 6" x 6" designer paper! Then she also fashioned the perfect white picket fence to frame it! With a birthday sentiment and great colour palette, this card is a real Top Pick!! Congratulations, Bronwyn !

Our Featured Artist, Sandra Strobel, has created an autumn project rich in texture, composition, shading and detail! The Design Team were so thrilled with beautifully coloured and blended pumpkin, gourd and leaves, as well as the embossed background and shiny bow. And just look at the weathered fence with the edging behind it and the details down to the raindrops. Congratulations, Sandra, amazing work!
