Winners for Challenge #253 - Fast Foliage

We had a few brave and daring risk-takers who were willing to pit their crafting skills against the clock for our last speed-stamping challenge, Fast Foliage! Always in good fun, it is nonetheless a great adrenaline rush, trying to fit on one last embellishment, or trying to fix that crooked sentiment before the stop watch runs out! The blog posts are almost as delightful as the projects themselves! Here are the cards which particularly delighted the Design Team with their simple artistry and what they were able to accomplish in under 10 minutes:

Our Top Pick is: Jules

top pick

Jules learned to reduce the layers in order to complete her design on time, but it didn't take away from the amazing embossed leafy background for her cute striped honeybee-like heart and her whimsical sentiment plus the actual stitching she did around the sentiment and the embossed layer. Now that is speedy!!

We had a tie for Featured Artist!

Our first Featured Artist is: Deborah Wheeler

featured artist 1

Deborah created a stepped up project by adding a narrow white frame to her square shaped card, adding a silhouette die cut in white to the dark green leaf sprig, and popping up her birthday sentiment on a strip of cardstock, which was again popped up on dimensionals. The background paper was so perfect for this foliage theme!

Our second Featured Artist is: Jolanda Johnston

featured artist 2

Jolanda's design is striking but simple which is a perfect solution for a speed stamping challenge. There are amazing contrasts in this simplicity, though, that create the polished look that is so hard to come by in a time crunch. The dark colours against the light image panel really create a crisp, clean final look. The black die cuts against the stamped graphic backgrounds in a geometrical arrangement is so eye-pleasing! And the texture in the center adds a finished note to it all!

Challenge #253 - Fast Foliage

Our last speed challenge was blossoms! Continuing on the same flora speed track, this time we move on to leaves - fast foliage. How quickly do you think you can make a card featuring greenery? Under 10 minutes? Good, because that's what a Speed Challenge requires and what Design Team member Jan had in mind when she chose this theme for the speedy stampers you all are!

When we do a speed challenge we are not expecting a detailed masterpiece from you. We want you to have fun and see what you can create in under 10 minutes! You can design it in your head or sketch it out first. You can gather all your supplies ahead of time. But once you start the cutting/stamping/die cutting/embossing /etc. process, you must start the timer!
