Challenge #320 - Perfectly Balanced

And we've come full circle again to another sketch challenge! This one was designed by our creative team member, Jan! I've titled it Perfectly Balanced for no particular reason except that I was imagining a bunch of objects stacked on top of each other in a perfectly balanced pile! One wrong move......

Feel free to use any shape for the circle and to change the orientation, but please keep the integrity of the sketch, so we can recognize it!

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch and to substitute one shape for another but we must still be able to see the sketch in your finished submission.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI320 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines tab.
  • You can combine our challenge with up to 3 other compatible challenges.*
  • We do reserve the right to delete, or not consider, entries that do not comply with these guidelines.*

Winners for Challenge #319 - Fleeting Flowers

It could be argued that Spring Flowers really are fleeting! They do seem to come and go so quickly! They are so lovely, though, that I find myself wishing they could hang around a little longer! Those pastel colours are so appealing after the colourless winter days!

The Design Team was very impressed with your speed stamping results! They make regular stamping look rushed! But here are the ones we felt deserved special notice:

Our Top Pick is: Deb Horst

top pick

Deb crushed this challenge by keeping her focal image small, but bright, with a lot of depth. Then her background consisted of a wide frame of textured white, which was very effective. And to embellish, she used Baker's twine in the same shade of yellow as her spring tulips. And what's more she created this in only six and a half minutes! How's that for awesome! Congratulations, Deb!

Our Featured Artist is: LeAnne Pugliese

LeAnne's beautiful Easter cards just goes to prove that lovely stamping can be done in a short amount of time! The hyacinths she created used different tones of pinks and purples to create depth in her focal point image. She echoes that effect with the greens in the leaves. Making it a square card added more interest and the beautiful font in purple was perfect for the occasion. The Design Team felt this design really stood out! Congratulations, Leanne, and especially for completing all this in under 6 minutes! Well done!

And we think you may want to check out the following Honorable Mentions on their sites:

Challenge #319 - Fleeting Flowers

For this challenge we are doing a Speed Stamping Challenge and the theme for the challenge, created by the lovely Deborah, is Spring Flowers! To get your adrenaline pumping, create a card or other project, in under 10 minutes, that illustrates the seasonal theme of spring flowers! Please let us know how long it took you to make it in your description.

When we do a speed challenge we are not expecting a detailed masterpiece from you. We want you to have fun and see what you can create in under 10 minutes! You can design it in your head or sketch it out first. You can gather all your supplies ahead of time. But once you start the cutting/stamping/die cutting/embossing /etc. process, you must start the timer!

challenge #319

You have 10 minutes!
Let us know, with your entry, how long it took you to complete your card or project! The key is to KISS!! Keep It Simple, Stamper!

Now we'll see what our Design Team did with the theme in under 10 min.:

Winners for Challenge #318 - Let's Get Eggy

There is such a variety of images that you could use to illustrate the theme of Easter! We saw so many of them in your projects! It was so hard to choose between all those creative expressions, but here are the winners for As You See It Challenge #318:

Our Top Pick is: Julie Gearinger

top pick

Julie has made some wise choices in her theme challenge card. The background paper she chose and how she treated it made for a spectacular background for her Easter cross! The Renaissance look of her cross was a great choice for the background and continued the richness of the whole card and she embossed the beautiful sentiment in black instead of just stamping it, to give it importance. Great job, Julie! Congratulations!

Our Featured Artist is: Christy Stanford

Christy's beautifully crafted entry really caught the attention of the Design Team. Between her lovely choice of colours and patterns, her texture in the background pun, the crisp frames around the panels and the inclusion of those 3 adorable little eggs, this card just said "Easter" to us! Check out the same lovely colours reappearing on the little eggs! This card is a well-earned Featured Artist Award! Congratulations, Christy!
