Challenge #339 - Winter Frost

Happy New Year and welcome back to As You See It Challenges! We are starting the new year off with a colour challenge and, therefore, with a chance to be chosen as a guest designer for our next recipe challenge in about 4 weeks! What a great way to begin 2025! The colours for this challenge were inspired by a frosty photo found by yours truly, Heather C., and they give you a very soft and pretty palette to play with! I can hardly wait to see what you come up with!  Here's your challenge banner:

challenge #339

For Colour Challenge, we want you to use all four colours, and only those colours with the exception of a neutral and white. Neutrals can be black, vanilla or crumb cake. If you don't have the Stampin' Up! colours listed, use colours you have that are closest to them.
The Featured Artist and winner of this challenge will be given an opportunity to work with us as our guest designer in an up-coming Recipe Challenge, so keep that in mind when you enter!

Now let's see how the Design Team put this palette to work:

Here are some guidelines for the challenges:
  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging project that fits the challenge.
  • Use every element in the recipe, but the possibilities within those parameters are endless.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use AYSI#338 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines tab.
  • You can combine our challenge with up to 3 other compatible challenges.
  • We do reserve the right to delete, or not consider, entries that do not comply with these guidelines.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

Our Top Pick is: Amanda Mertz

Amanda created a beautiful spring-like birthday card with our sketch, The Design Team loved the birthday cake focal point and the creative banners that made up the horizontal elements in the sketch!  Along with the lovely wild flowers that embellish the card, the font on the sentiment was just one more element that made this creation one that is fit for Top Pick! Congratulations, Amanda!

Our Featured Artist is: Julia Sager

Our winning entry, Julia Sager, the Featured Artist, has created a card both festive and elegant! The Design Team loved the classic colour palette of red, green and gold, the embossed background, and the creative horizontal elements. Those embossing dies created very compelling poinsettias for this seasonal display. Congratulations on being our Featured Artist, Julia!

Challenge #338 - A Window into the New Year

Welcome to our last challenge of 2024! Wow! I can hardly believe that the year is over! We've enjoyed presenting our challenges to you and seeing your wonderful submissions so much! Our last challenge of 2024 is a sketch challenge and it is, fittingly, like a window, thanks to Team Member Jane, allowing us a peek into the coming year!

For a sketch challenge, feel free to reverse it or turn it on it's side, or alter the shapes, but make sure that the integrity of the sketch is still there; make sure that we can still recognize the challenge sketch. Here it is:

Winners for Challenge #337 - Turbo Trees

You are all getting so adept at Speed Stamping challenges! You are learning all the hacks and shortcuts and using your strengths to come up with designs that do not look at all like you only took 10 minutes or less to make! But, the question is, do you still get that rush of adrenaline when you start your timer?

Here are the lovely winners this time, chosen by the Design Team:

aysi top pick badge

Our Top Pick is: Alma Heijenk

top pick

Alma's pretty card, which only took her 3 minutes and 25 seconds, is a great testament to second generation stamping, which is a super technique for speed stamping. Alma created a little forest of trees with depth and dimension, using one stamp and one ink simply using this technique twice and adding an attractive sentiment! You don't have a die cutting machine, embossing machine, or something to heat emboss with? No worries! You can create wonderful things with stamps, ink and paper! Congratulation, Alma, on being our Top Pick this week!

featured artist
Our Featured Artist is: Toni Maddox

featured artist

Toni, our winner, and Featured Artist, took that same concept and added another stamp, some heat embossing and ink blending and at least another colour and created a real eye-popper! The Design Team loved the stag focal image and the softly shaded oval in the background. The tree image was perfect for the style of the deer as well. You can see how the darker colour of the stag drew your eyes to him. Congratulations on being our Featured Artist this week, Toni!

And we think you may want to check out the following Honorable Mentions on their sites

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! Our winners today can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites. Please check out our new Sketch Challenge on our blog tomorrow morning!
